Chris Bott - Moderator
I'm not sure you could follow my thought process G-YRUS, because I'm not sure I can . I keep changing my mind on the aileron servo question. Small servos could easily go in the belcrank positions, making the decision purely one of whether we'd accept an unobtrusive hatch on the underside of the wings. An alternative though, might be two small servos in the centre of the wing, operating the belcrank system.
Danny Fenton
I have something that might be of interest but it is a chicken and egg thing. I have a friend in Holland that has kindly offered to CNC the hinges. Now those that have perhaps got the plan and have looked at this will know what I am talking about? Anyway there are 28 seperate parts all cut from G10 or 1/16 fibreglass board, I have only shown a selection. Now if you are going to cut them yourself then great, if you are going to modify the wing and use Robart pin hinges again thats fine. But if you would like a set CNC'd can you let me know? I cannot tell you how much a set will be but the material alone is £5 a sheet plus postage thats enough for two sets. Is anybody interested in me pursuing this? Cheers Danny
Colin Leighfield
Count me in please Danny.

Danny Fenton
Thanks Colin and Glenn, Chris B has also said he is in, which is great thanks for that. I am afraid I cannot get a cost yet because I don't know how many we want. But at least this is giving me an idea. So four so far Cheers Danny
john stones 1 - Moderator
No offence but I want to make everything apart from canopy and cowl Danny Thanks for the offer though
Danny Fenton
Hi John, that is not a problem at all, and more power to your elbow for doing so, and you may need it I hate cutting these bits out.... Cheers Danny
Terry Walters
That's a yes please from me too Danny - thanks, Terry
G-YRUS
I will say yes to a set of hinges. I could well be optimistic but I am hoping to start building before October so how much I faff about may make this provisional on availability. Danny Fenton
Great thanks chaps, that's seven sets so far.CheersDanny
AlexJ
Please add me to the hinge list, Danny. I have looked at the plan and was thinking the hinges would be a good candidate for CNC. Making so many, so small and needing to be very accurate, what a hideous job! Alex

Danny Fenton
Blimey if my maths is right, that's ten sets, it will be nice to fly these together when they are done Thanks for your prompt replies Cheers Danny
John Timmis
Danny The hinge sets are a great idea & will save lots of time. I did mine the hard way a long time ago so have no need for them now. Will need to get some 10 BA nuts & bolts though. SLEC perhaps? Cheers John
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
I'm glad you have it sorted now Danny, sorry the laser ones didn't work out
Danny Fenton
Hi Dylan, not quite sorted yet I still have to try and negotiate a price that wont send everybody running Yes its a shame we couldn't get the laser to work. Perhaps a revisit sometime as its probably a good string to the bow. I have asked around and several people would like the service Okay just had SLEC on the phone and just a very rough figure, and please don't hold me to this should be £18 - £20 a set. There is a slight problem that the holes at 1.5mm (10 ba) may be too small for the router to deal with so we may have to drill them. SLEC have offered to try a smaller 1mm router bit but it then slows the overall cutting time and increases the cost. Cheers Danny
David P Williams
Re the servos in wing question - the hatches could be almost scale, as the full size has access hatches for the aileron bellcranks as well as zips in the fabric for access to the linkages (although they might be a bit tricky to replicate The lithoplate bashers amongst you might like to start planning how to tackle this challenge....... Martyn K
£20 a set for hinges is OK with me Danny. Happy to drill holes if necessary M
Danny Fenton
Thats eleven sets if my sums are correct? Sorry John I didn't mean to ignore you, I get all my tiny screws from MaccModels.co.uk They even do some 12 ba which are great for cockpit and canopy stuff Cheers Danny
Kevin Fairgrieve
Yes please to a set of hinges for me. Kev
kevin b
Posted by ZK BAP on 10/04/2014 10:20:24: The 61 pulls along just fine. But the lighter she is the better she will glide Mine balanced pretty good with no weight added anywhere with the ASP. I have had a call from Brian from Airsail. He will remake the kit if numbers are there. A special run of maybe 50 kits will be produced. The Chippy is such a great every weekend flyer. Reliable, rugged, throw around that is a joy to fly. Best of all, it is hard to find 'true' builders kits. Im just waiting for him to make the Tomahawk again, then my collection is complete. john stones 1 - Moderator
Got my plan today I am not too keen on his u/c method Looks like it will take me till October to cut the ribs etc Start without me if i'm not ready
Danny Fenton
The method is practical and light. Most of the oleos we fit are so hard they barely compress under load anyway. But properly sprung oleos would be a simple option to fit CheersDanny
