Craig Carr
Posted by Steve_Wright on 23/07/2014 21:21:35: want it done by end of september in time for cider making. Lorry driver clouted it with the crane jib & cracked it 1/2 way up, council came out & cut it off as it was very unsafe. Oops.... I suspect the council will seek to "recharge" the cost of making safe/repairing to whoever damaged it..... Wouldn't like to be in his shoes....... Steve_Wright
Council chaps took a copy of the delivery slip from us for the suppliers details, they recon around £2-3k for a new lamp!!! Just hope it isn't one of the LED ones they are fitting around here, far too bright, like my dull orange glow

Steve_Wright
Side windows are in, waiting for lintels & high clearance roof trusses. Went with trusses as it saves me about 3 days builder cost and is a bit cheaper than traditional purlin roof. Hopefully will get the roof started weekend after next

Steve_Wright
Has to be done soon, it is going to be home for my cider vats (2x 400litre ones), new ones arrive in 2 weeks. Need to decide on floor colour soon to. Weekend after next I am renting a polisher/scruber to key the floor ready for the epoxy, thinking light blue or light green
Steve_Wright
Builders are rubbish, various excuses but finally turned up to do the roof last week. Plan to be water tight by next weekend. Anyway, workbench time. No I am rubbish at building stuff so it will be a bought in one (stop yer muttings back there) Looking for steel bases with draws & cabinets that will take a 50mm or so thick worktop, think I have 3.8 metres to fill up, so maybe 3 or 4 base units whith the top bolted to them. I like to get my legs under the bench so I can work sat in a chair. Anyone got any suggestions for the cabinets to use? Looking on ebay at the moment. Steve_Wright
maybe 2 of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professional-HILKA-Quality-Metal-Heavy-Duty-2-Drawer-Work-Bench-UK-Seller-/301303464584?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4627160288 not really deep enough though? cymaz
Does it have to be steel? Old ex display kitchen cabinets are what I use. If its good enough for swmbo then it's good enough for my models. Steve_Wright
Really needs to be steel or heavy duty wood. Will get axles & gearboxes chucked ontop as well as model stuff, think kitchen units will not take the abuse. Steel is easier to keep clean also. Currently have all the roof trusses up & most of 1 gable end built up, hopefully all brickwork will be done by wednesday.
RichFR
Looking good. I would forget the wood burner and go with an AC unit. I have put one in mine and its fantastic very efficient heating (if you insulate properly) easy to set a min temp and AC when/if you need it

Steve_Wright
What is this gardening your refer to? Wifey does the green stuff around the house. The closest to gardening I do it maintain the cider apple orchard. 1 gable end done now, they are just setting the bricks at the front ready to put the lintle in over the main door
Vecchio Austriaco
Looks good - and is a bit higher than my man cave. So it has more overhead storage space (which is very important for wings but I store also wood sheets up there, laying flat on a support construction. Did you need planning permission for that? Steve_Wright
oh yes, planning was fun! Despite being the same size as the neighbours garage they complained about the size Could have built the garage another .5m higher but decided on current height, I am 6ft4 and cannot touch the cross beams in the trusses. Have to work out the best way to store planes in the roof space

Cannot find them anymore but these are about the same Edited By cymaz on 11/11/2014 17:21:
