Tony Bennett
as i have run out of glue for the vulcan build and the shackleton is on hold while i await some parts i need. i thought i would sit down and cut some bits from the left over depron, that was just sitting there looking at me. Colin Leighfield
It might be a good idea to do a chuck-glider of it first and see how that flies, that one might be tricky!
Mark Kettle 1
That would be good Tony. Like Colin says try a chuck glider first to learn the concept, I did it recently for a SU27 plan / drawing I'm working on. ..... guess what if flew with that little of blue tack on the nose - 1/8" balsa super glued together....I learnt a lot from the chuck glider. Keith Simmons
Ahhhhh. A TSR2. What size are you planning to build her Tony? I do think Depron is the way to go with it's small wingspan to length ratio. Are you planning an EDF version?
Tony Bennett
well i plan to stretch the wing span a tad to 54 inches and a fuselage length of..........................100inches. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. pusher prop i think to keep the weight down. Terry Walters
Aaaaaargh!! Another thread I've got to follow now - is there no stopping you Tony? Terry
Tony Bennett
hmmmm. might be a little bit too big me thinks.
Daithi O Buitigh
You do realise of course that as soon as you finish and test fly that the contract will be cancelled in favour of buying in a few Phantoms - dontcha? "All modern aircraft have four dimensions: span, length, height and politics. TSR-2 simply got the first three right." (Sir Sydney Camm)
Colin Leighfield
You're a braver man than me Tony. Daithi's right of course, but if you want to get your own back on Harold Wilson and Dennis Healey for landing us with Phantoms via a further cancellation of the TFX/F111 contract, you could say that your "big wing"variation is the naval version of the TSR2, stick a hook on it and paint it blue. Keith Simmons
Lol Tony. The TSR2 fuselage length ratio to wingspan is large, designed for very low level high speed flight at over the speed of sound. Hence the large wing loading so to fly through the air turbulence giving the crew a smoother ride. Having it done in depron is a good Idea and I am keen to hear what it's like to fly as it is on my list of the models to build and fly. I hear that the buccaneer is easier to fly and is more forgiving. Perhaps a slightly smaller TSR2 is a way to go and Wolfie has built one to 1/12th scale and I hope to build one to that size, but in Depron. Andy Palmer has built a pusher TSR2 (on Wolfie's thread, dated 16/04/2012) Best of luck and hopefully you will have the shack, Vulcan and TSR2 finished for us to feast our eyes on. cymaz
Tony's going to need a bigger hanger! Good effort, but are the wings in proportion? Or is it the photo...must be the photo....
Tony Bennett
the wings have been stretched by 6 inches to give a lower wing loading i hope.

Martian
way to go Tony it's looking fantastic, I remember this in development captivating and devastating when it was cancelled privileged to have it on my doorstep at Cosford

andyh
looks great. not DF though?
Tony Bennett
can't afford the df units. maybe if this one works ok i could be persuaded to try a df version. or i could just do something different all together.
Erfolg
Now that is what i call ambitious. I will be watching with interest. Did you build the Thunderbird replica? Not got a clue what the aeroplane was called, in the programme.
Tony Bennett
the fireflash was built 3 years ago now and was just to heavy to fly. now in depron with a single pusher prop, it could be made to work. still i will finish the vulcan and tsr2 and shackleton and hurricane and auster first before i think about any new projects. Concorde Speedbird
I know something you should do! It begins with a C and ends with an E. And it has oncord in the middle! Just joking. The TSR2 looks amazing. I saw the one at Duxford recently, the wing is tiny! I look forwards to seeing more progress! CS
