Jerry Zito
I'm working on my quadcopter, and I would like to add LED lights. I am looking for some kind of wiring harness to connect all four light sections to my receiver. I saw one on YouTube, but he didn't mention where he got it. Anyone have any ideas? cymaz
Thinking of it, why not try lighting from a model railway specialist? They might have packs of lights.

Phil Green
Standard LED sticky-strips run directly off a 3S lipo, as long as you cut them in multiples of three. I think that's what most quad people use. Edited By Phil Green on 23/08/2014 19:21:
Jerry Zito
Thanks Dave, Cymaz, and Phil. I appreciate the response. I have ordered a roll of white and red LED strips from HK. That's a good idea tapping into the flight battery. I have seen several wiring harnesses but they all come with LED's built in. I was thinking that I could tap into an unused port on my receiver and get the power from there and also be able to turn on and off the lights. Gary Manuel
If you want to control the LED lighting from a receiver output, you will need something similar to this: **LINK**
Phil Green
Jerry you cant power the LEDs from the rx, they need at least 10 volts, preferably 12v. You can switch them from a rx channel but they still need the higher voltage supply. I think most people just take the LED power from the lipo balance plug. Jerry Zito
Thanks Gary. I think that will work nicely.
Jerry Zito
Now that you mention it Phil. I believe you are correct. I never thought Led lighting was so complcated. 😩
Allan Bennett
You maybe can't power HK LED sets direct from the receiver, but you can home-make sets that will run off 5v, or even buy strips from Dimension Engineering that'll run direct off the receiver. The Dimension Engineering ones are much shorter than the HK ones. I've just installed some on my 250-size quad. Whichever way you go, you need an LED controller if you want to switch them on and off remotely.
Eamonn Fahey
Jerry, HobbyKing UK warehouse have an ADAPTER to connect 4 of their LED strips to your flight battery. Eamonn.
