Paul Marsh
No interest? Suppose it's not a Lancaster, a foamy and a micro one at that...
Colin Leighfield
It looks great Paul. I can't get the video to run on the IPad so I'll look at it on the PC later.
Tony Read
That's my Christmas presi sorted then! I like the 'half wheels' for belly landing. Neat idea.
Essjay
Colin, use the"header" in the YouTube video as the link and run it straight from YouTube. I've noticed recently that the big "play" button on vids doesn't work any more, especially since I loaded iOS 8. Steve
Colin Leighfield
Thanks Steve, I'll have a look.
Colin Leighfield
Just watched it. Amazing! At 1/48 scale it must be about 25.25" span. Wouldn't have been possible not so long ago.
Colin Leighfield
Dodgy maths. 25.5"!
Paul Marsh
What about a mass launch with as many B-17's as possible at next years' Greenacres? Imaging having 20 of them in the air, with a few Spam Cans to protect the formation? That's it, I'm going to ask for next year who would be going to take either the B-17 UMX and P-51 UMX and get a mass launch. It will be done - get them all in the air, although I can only fly one at once.

Paul Marsh
Right oh, just made this to get the spirit - also 2015 will be 70th anniversary of the end of WWII. I'll organize a group and a slot for next year. Will start a new thread when the model is released. Will buy two, one for everyday use and another for special occasions. My favourite bomber always has been the B-17, more than any other bomber made - apart from the Lanc, but the B-17 always seemed perfect. I used the read "The Bonzo Express" - a strip in the Warlord and Eagle comics about the crew of the B-17 called the "Bonzo" and the missions they went on. Tony Read
Ahh! The Warlord. Union Jack Jackson, that takes me back!
Peter Miller
I have a love affair with the B-17. Done two control line ones and a small R/C version with four Cox TD .020s and even home built retracts. it did fly but was too heavy. (Ever heard 4 Cox TD 020s shaft running? I might even be tempted and that is really confessing to something!!! My Control line B-17G powered by four G-Mark 12 twin cylinder engines seen above.. Paul Marsh
This is the strip in question - still have all my comics.
Tony Read
My parents threw out all my comics and other stuff when I left home. Probably had the first edition of Warlord in that lot. Perhaps they were trying to tell me something? When will the B17 be in stock in the UK?
Tony Read
Peter, that sure is a beautiful model.
Peter Miller
Posted by Tony Read on 05/10/2014 18:23:13: Peter, that sure is a beautiful model. Thanks Tony. It is phtographed in front of a genuine B-17 hangar, the 381st BG at Ridgewell, Essex.

Peter Miller
That is right. Home of the North Essex club but now limited to when the gliders are not operating. No, I am not a member.
Paul Marsh
Went to the model shop to some shopping. It arrived! Going to fly it later. Probably will add some engine detail to the nacelles, as the front of each cowl looks abit naff. Will get some copies of the P&W engine, and stick them infont of the gearbox and refit the prop. leccyflyer
Very nice - looking forward to some flight reports, especially whether or no the B-17 will be suitable for indoor flying.
Paul Marsh
Well I flew it, but wasn't perfect. Had two flights, but seemed very tail-heavy and going to add some weight in the nose. Was dragging it's tail and entered a stall, even at full power when the tail dropped and full down doesn't do much. Did sort of crash, but no damage, but usually these models fly straight out of the box,but will see next time...
Tony Read 2
Hold onto your hats, another micro B17 is on its way! Paul, There have been reports of GG issues, with people adding weight to the nose or using a bigger battery to get it to fly right. Once trimmed they then seem fine. Paul Marsh
Am looking to get and use a 300 1s Lipo. Give more duration and sort the cofg issue out.Probably will change the connector to JST on this one, as although the battery is ok on the Mossie, the JST is a quite popular item.
