kc
Surely allowing youngsters only to paint the drones and not be involved in building them is a useless activity! And flying drones as " Airmagedden" sounds like promoting just the sort of reckless flying that nobody wants! And the " Fearless" youngsters they want are just the kind of youngsters we don't want flying anything. Can only bring drone flying into more disrepute. Institutions like the BBC and BMFA need to inspire youngsters to actually build something and learn practical skills.
john stones 1 - Moderator
I've done it again Andy I would think the BMFA and BBC are bound by all manner of rules/regulations H+S etc etc. Anyone got a noose I can borrow or number for Samaritans John
Jon H
I do think the nannying of kids is a real problem. when I was 14 I would take the model I had built and would head off to the park to fly it. Once I coaxed my ancient PAW09 into life I would spend the afternoon making 10 minute hops (3 mins powered) around the field without bothering or endangering a soul. I then went home to wash the stink of ether and castor oil off my clothes. Now, a 14 year old cant buy glue, or a modelling knife, or fuel or paint. So what are they supposed to do? Stephen Jones
Hi , I have just recived an Email from our club BMMFC, BBC's Blue Peter production team will be filming at our club. The programme is centred on multirotor flying by young people and how they are beginning to dominate the sport of drone racing. They have asked to access all areas of the club fields but we expect that the fixed wing patch will be the main area that they will be using and as a consequence it may be unavailable for normal use most of the morning (upto around 1.00pm). They will be looking at other areas of our activities so they may spend some time filming planes and helicopters as well. Do feel free to bring down your favourite models although please accept that you may not get to fly as and when you choose, as we have agreed to be led by the producer. How COOL is that , Steve
