Richard Harris
Brian, It is worth checking that your tracking is set up so the model runs straight on the ground, perhaps remove the rotors for this. If your right wheel is lifting and the model is starting to bank to the left this indicates that the rotors are not up to speed and you are more than likely travelling too fast on the ground. Best way to attempt a take off is to just point the model into wind, pull back on the rotors and give them a flick in an anti clockwise direction. Just let the model sit there whilst the blades accelerate, if they dont then apply a touch of power so that the model starts to move forwards but no more than walking pace. You should be able to hear the blades change note (it is quite distinct). At this point release the back tilt to the neutral position and increase power so that the model moves at a jogging pace, the model should then lift off completing a small hop. Try this until you get confortable with doing this, increasing the lengths of the hops. The biggest mistake I made at the start was trying to fly like a fix wing, running down the patch at full speed and pulling back on the rotors. Slow and steady wins the day. Chris Dowell
I put a new roll of film in the Kodak Brownie and took a few pics of my build....at the time I had no intention to post them ..but this thread has slowed down a little...and this model is well worth building. Chris Dowell
Esc compartment. This is a modification to the plan. By moving the rudder servo to the rear..it allowed the ESC to be mounted under the battery compartment. Terry Whiting 1
Hi Chris, An impressive kit of parts, and all coming together making a very nice build of it. I'm sure your posts will help many of those new to to gyros, and to some of us which aren't so new Cheers mate.
Chris Dowell
There is one other small mod that I made to this build. I thought that a little more rudder may be handy...so I went with linking up the two outer fins as Rich did with the big blue bird. Happy Landings Chris...
