Papa
Absolutely awsome. Has all the look and attitude of the real thing. How gratifying for you. Amazing to think it's all depron. Just as well you did not have any landing gear judging by the look of that field! Once again thank you for having the courage to share it with us, we are all the better for it.Jack Higgins

Bev Lawton
Well done Glenn - a great result and very well deserved - thanks for sharing it all.You would be very hard pressed to tell the real beast from the model in these shots and you can't say better than that. Now all we need is a spare channel to drop a scale "Yellow Sun Mk II"

Glenn Moore
Thanks guys, I got another flight under my belt this morning and I was a bit more comfortable with the handling after changing the control throws. There was a bit of turbulence coming off the trees but we got video this time. Once its edited and uploaded I will post a link, in the meantime here are a couple of screen grabs. Aero120
Well done Glenn. Looks fabulous. Hope its fun to fly too. You can loop and roll it too as the real one could although it wasn't part of the RTS schedule. Does it do the flat sink at stall speed as per the real one? XM597 used that manouvre when it did an emergency landing in brazil after the refuelling probe snapped off during a Black Buck Falklands raid. Glenn Moore
Thanks for the comments guys. I have had two flights now and the handling is very civilised. I will explore the slow flying and stalling characteristics when I get to fly on a calm day or at least a day when the breeze isnt coming over the trees. Power is slightly dissapointing but I will be able to get a bit more go by fitting 11 inch props. I originally used the 10x5s as they should give around four and a half pounds of thrust and I was hoping all up weight would be around that, but I got the scales out yesterday and found the weight is just over five pounds so that explains the power only being adequate. Level flight was only using half throttle but I want to be able to try the Vulcan power climb and full throttle is not quite enough so I will try the bigger props and see what happens.Anyway the good news is the first video is here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=938031 sorry for the quality but I forgot to switch off the autofocus and there was a lot of blurred images to cut out. Glenn Moore
One of the things I am really pleased with is the props hardly show up in flight. I will get to work on some drawings over the next couple of weeks for a smaller version and I will post details here as soon as I have news. Trevor Meakin
Hi Glenn ,What a fantastic thread , and an even more amazing Model , it looks fantastic , both on ground and in flight .I saw the Vulcan fly at Waddington this year , what a nostalgic day after so many years of it being on the ground ,it brought me back to the good olds at Finningly when four Vulcans would roar away virtually nose to tail as the Vulcan Scramble was anounced making the whole airfield shake with sheer power , Fantastic ...I also saw the giant model flying at Rufforth , one of few models that actually risked the wild winds of the Yorkshire drome ..I got so into the vulcan that I bought an ' Easy Build ' 15" span model ( not sure the name actually relates to the ease of build as it looks quite complex to me )at least it will keep me ocupied during the winter , its designed for jetex , but I bought some rapier to try and get it skybound .. Its not a patch on yours but I am inspired to get this model in the air ..I may even do a thread if any one would be interested ..I have never seen or used this Depron stuff before but it looks fantastic to work with so I may have a go at a Depron model once this venture is finished ...Again well Done Glenn , its been a delight to read all about your Model venture .. with some fantastic Pictures to show us how it all happened .. Glenn Moore
Hi Trevor,I am glad you have enjoyed the build. When I started the project I thought I might be pushing it a bit too far but the model has performed better the I could have dreamed so far. The 11x5.5 props arrived yesterday so I bolted them on when I got home and dragged the family off to the field for a flight just as it was getting dark. The wind had dropped so conditions were perfect and with the extra power the new props gave me I was able to really start enjoying the flying. Best of all the batteries were still going strong at twenty minutes when I decided to land because it was getting darker than I was comfortable with. Handling was so good in the calm conditions I was happy to slow the model down to almost walking pace at low level without any worry of stalling. We took some more video of the flight and I have had a job to trim it back to nearly seven minutes. Check it out here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=940245#post10763747
country flier
Quite the model of the Vulcan, Glen. The 15" jetex model by Easy Built is a B1 with the straight wing but is neat for inspiring a bigger build.XM573 is at the SAC museum near ( about 70 miles) where I live in Nebraska. That makes for a great scale reference when I get to building a Vulcan.Harold
country flier
Trevor,By all means give the 15" Vulcan a go. It's a bit of old time modeling as the kit is of a B1 version rather than the later B2. A build thread would be fun.Harold
