Phil Cooke
For anyone not planning to spend New Years day nursing the mother of all hangovers, or by taking that traditional dip into the North Sea, there is another way you could start 2017 in style! An idea has hatched regarding a NEW YEARS DAY PSSA MEET at the most suited PSS friendly location, forecast dependant. Who's interested? Of course the weather might still pull the plug on any plans, but assuming there IS sufficient wind strength for robust PSS flying we will choose one of the following sites, dictated by the forecast wind direction; N - The Bwlch, Nant-y-Moel - VR98 slope NE - Bosley Cloud, Congleton, Cheshire E - Great Orme, Llandudno - Ski centre slope SE - The Bwlch, Nant-y-Moel - 'Back of Wrecker' slope S - Great Orme, Llandudno - Southerly slope SW - Great Orme, Llandudno - Tank Track slope W - The Bwlch, Nant-y-Moel - Mickeys slope NW - Bosley Cloud, Congleton, Cheshire The days are short this time of year so a timely start is essential! I'm sure the keenest of us will be at the chosen site from first light. In fact dependant on location some of us might be setting off before some of the New Years Eve parties have even finished! hehe - we must be mad! Anyway, that's the plan, if you are interested in joining us please register here so we get a feel for the size of the group, and of course - please all make sure your 2017 BMFA insurance is renewed in good time this month to keep it all above board on the 1st January 2017! happy landings all, Phil

Flyer
Hmmmmmm....... I wonder if I could maiden the A4? I'll put myself down as a 'possible' , although a lot depends on family commitments that I will be told about shortly and which site chosen . Scott Edwards 2
Fabulous idea ! Well up for it
Peter Garsden
Will try but big night New Year's Eve, so it is quite a big ask I think unless it is local and then possible ie Bosley Cloud. Just a point Master Cooke - North East is actually better at the Roaches though as our site is down at the moment that won't be easy, hoping to get it up again soon. Steve McLaren
I'm afraid I won't be able to make it, but I hope you all have a good day. But this Sunday's forecast is looking interesting! is that enough wind on the Orme?
Andy Meade
Apparently it was a very good wind on the Big Rock Steve - I saw on Facebook that quite a few turned out, and were flying fully ballasted Opuses (Opii?) at the start, and it got better from there! Just renewed my insurance through my club, so I'm ready for whatever the 1st brings us
Phil Cooke
yes amazing considering the forecast was only 8-10 mph - just goes to show what these coastal sites can do with their own micro-climates... Good reminder on the insurance Andy for our plans on NYD - Ill go renew my subs now too...
Steve Houghton 1
Unfortunately I can't do this as I shall be visiting family up norf. Steve
Tim Mackey
There's a filthy rumour that the big rock is the likely venue - but nyd or nye or both ?
Andy Meade
Both for me Timbo. Will see how long I stay on nyd though as the forecast is still quite variable

Tim Mackey
Yeah - all over the place on the Sunday 😳 I'm due to go Friday but may postpone til Sat or do both 😁
Phil Cooke
it certainly makes sense to pull the event forward a day to New Years Eve (Saturday), unfortunately for me that means I wont be able to join you but its the right call for sure, the NYD forecast is pretty unreadable as the wind is still shown to be swinging, and its wet too! New Years Day looks like a cracker - sorry to miss it! Heres the forecast for both days off XC just now... Ill put some similar note on the PSSA FB page to avoid anyone missing the gathering the day earlier than initially planned. Take some pictures for me lads, would be nice to put a few up on the site after you've returned.

Paul Marsh
If it's at the Cloud, will go, although don't have any gliders, as they are all powered, although the NH Tuccano will be ok without its prop
Phil May
Andy, don't fancy an 8hr round trip and then my New Years eve bender 🎉🎉🎉
Chris Barlow
PZ Spitfire will work without the prop too. Don't think I'll have the A10 finished although it's very nearly there. Great Orme Sat the Cloud Sun.
Andy Meade
3.5 hours either way for me too, but I will man up to the challenge
Peter Garsden
Only just seen this and am not organised and we have 22 for dinner tonight so it would be social suicide. Shame. Great article in this month s RC Model World. Describes the whole mass build weekend. Well done Phil. Outstanding job as usual.
