Gary Manuel
I have a number of MacGregor MG5921HV servos, which appear to be the Dogs Doodahs. They are Metal Geared, Coreless Motor and rated at 20.3Kg / 0.12secs at 8.4V (unregulated 2 x LiPo's). Their performance looks and feels excellent with very little free play. One thing I've noticed with them though is that when there is no power on them, it is virtually impossible to move the arms without the feeling that something is going to break. I have to power the wings up in order to centralise the ailerons to get them into the wing bags. I may even need to buy a battery operated servo tester to keep in my flight box to allow me to centre them. All other servos I have got can be mechanically turned from the arms / control surface. Is this a good thing that helps with the holding power of the servos or is it something I should be concerned about?

Gary Manuel
Can't get the wings into the wing bags and also, I need to "adjust" the rudder to get the model to fit in my car.
Denis Watkins
I believe it is metal gears do this, and not so much the coreless motor By trying to turn the servo arm, the movement is transferred through the largest gear, to the tinniest gear imaginable on the motor shaft Do not force it, as you realise as the mechanical advantage is massive when you think that it drives through there above 20 kg Edited By Denis Watkins on 10/03/2017 17:02:
Gary Manuel
Thanks Denis. That nicely puts into words what I was concerned about. Looks like some sort of battery operated servo tester might be a good investment.
