MaxG
I have a tube of wallpaper overlap adhesive left over from some decorating. It looks like very liquid PVA white glue. Is it useable instead of Balsaloc or other similar covering adhesives. Maxg
Denis Watkins
Balsaloc is Balsaloc Max, and have never found anything like it, not even PVA Whatever they may add, perfume or whatever, it is not wallpaper paste. My suspicion is that it is a PVA derivative with the addition of some " no soap " No soap was an extremely good cleaning fluid we used in garages to remove grease and oil, and it smelled Like Balsaloc, If you need Balsaloc, use Balsamic Just my view Edited By Denis Watkins on 04/04/2020 16:36:
Andy Stephenson
The glue I bought from the local pound shop for sticking down edges of wall paper turned out to be PVA which I ended up using to cover foam wings cores with lining paper. I wouldn't use standard PVA as a heat sensitive adhesive as I don't think it's very effective. Instead I have used Deluxe Materials CoverGrip which is made for the job. A. ascot
Hi All Can Balsa Lock be thinned down to spread easier Ascot
Denis Watkins
The gripping properties of Covergrip or Balsaloc are as they come from the tub Ascot. Spread as thin as you like and allow to go tacky as instructed. Thinning would alter the grip so is really not worth doing Edited By Denis Watkins on 14/04/2020 08:24:

Andy Stephenson
I used Covergrip on a model soaked in diesel from a smoke tank leak. One application and the Solartex I applied over the effected area even stuck without having to apply any heat. I think that says it all. i12fly
I use Fast Tack -from haberdasheries and is a heat sensitive adhesive used by dressmakers and certainly helps covering adhesion to balsa. And I've thinned it with water successfully too. Whether it is any good in dressmaking I've no idea as I don't wear dresses -never tried. Enmanbern
Hey, stumbled upon your 2020 post – hope your wallpaper project turned out well! As for the adhesive, if it's still in good condition, it should work fine. And if you're ever in need of fresh wallpaper inspiration, anonymous HD wallpapers has a cool variety.
