fix-n-fly
Hello - I realize there have been no posts to this thread in over a year. I am in the US and would like to buy a Radio Queen kit, however, upon trying to communicate with Ben Buckle, I have had no luck. Can anyone tell me if Ben is still making these models and if known, how best to communicate with him? Many thanks - Ed Sherrod
John Rickett 102
Ben's son Colin took over the supply of the kits and plans. The website is still active: https://www.benbucklevintage.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us The Radio Queen is also still shown as being produced
FlyinFlynn
If you want to speak with Ben I think you will need an ouija board - I believe he died some time ago. His son is still apparently running the business though and they have a web site at https://www.benbucklevintage.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=
Engine Doctor
Not sure if Colin is still active as I believe he was seriously ill some time ago. Has anyone ordered from him lately ?

Ed Sherrod, if you want to contact Colin Buckle by phone please be aware that there is a time difference of at least four hours depending upon where you live within the USA. fix-n-fly
Thanks to all who responded. I'll try again to see if I can order a kit.
Outrunner
Models like the Radio Queen are so simple it's not worth buying a kit. Download the plans an cut your own kit, it's mainly sticks of balsa and some ribs.

A Radio Queen might be a simple build for a traditional aeromodeller but for an ARF assembler or a for a foamie RTF flyer it might be a bridge too far. The is a noticeable difference nowadays between an aeromodeller and a model flyer. *Chris *

fix-n-fly
All - I appreciate and thank you for the suggestions. The thought has crossed my mind to make my own kit. I have a physical set of plans from Outerzone, but I do not have any of the wood needed to create a kit. I have built a Sig Manufacturing Senior Kadet RC plane (which is basically a box of sticks) and several Guillows kits before so I have a little experience with building such a model. My concerns about creating this kit are : 1) leading edge sheeting (I've attempted this before and ended up with a warped wing); bending landing gear (seems to take me several attempts just to get close to what is shown on the plans), and buying the wood needed for the kit costing more than buying a kit from Ben Buckle. fix-n-fly
As an update, I recently found that Bob Holman Plans here in the US is willing to produce a short kit for the Radio Queen for a reasonable price. I've ordered one of these kits and when it arrives will start looking at the plans to determine what other wood / materials are needed.

That sounds like a good solution, it would have cost an awful lot of money to import a full kit even before Trumpys duties are added on top. Keep us posted on your Radio Queen build.
