Hoochykins
What I am trying to do is charge some 4 cell receiver batteries (NiMH/NiCAD) but finding the connectors isn't as easy as I thought it would be so I'm thinking maybe I am doing something wrong. This is the charger I have: https://www.overlander.co.uk/chargers/e455-charger-50w-4a-li-nimh-charger.html And I am trying to charge some batteries like these: https://www.overlander.co.uk/nimh-batteries/panasonic-eneloop-aa-2000mah-4-8v-square-nimh-battery.html Am I correct in thinking I need a XT-60 male to JR connector female connector? The charger has the ability to charge NiCAD and NiMH so I know that's fine but it's more difficult that I would expect to find the adaptor which usually means it's not a common thing to do and I am likely incorrect? Hoochykins
From that response I gather I am correct and just need the adaptor? It wasn't so much of an issue of finding one but the fact there wasn't many about so I didn't know if I was trying to achieve something unachievable. EDIT: Your link is now one to multiple so it answers my question, just need the adaptor. Thank you 👍 Edited May 17, 2024 by Hoochykins Change of link
RottenRow
Although the lead is of the correct type, the specification for that charger states that it is only suitable for charging 6 to 8 NiMH cells. From the specifications: Cell Count: LiPo/LiFe/LiHV: 2-4S NiMH: 6-8S As a receiver pack is either 4 or 5 cells, this charger isn’t a suitable one for this purpose. Looking at the charge currents available, I think this is intended for the old NiMH flight packs. Here is the manual; I couldn’t get the link on the Overlander site to work, but this is the same charger: e455_Instruction_Manual_EN_V5.0.pdf Brian. Hoochykins
Ah man I knew there was more to it... Have you got any reccomendations for a cheap charger? I won't be using it a whole lot to be honest but as long as it doesn't burn the house down I will be happy.
RottenRow
The simplest is the plug-in charger of the type that is (or was) usually supplied with radio control equipment. Trickle charge only (no fast charge) but can be left on overnight to top up the battery. Will charge both transmitter and receiver (assuming that the transmitter has a NiMH battery). Something like this… https://www.rapidrcmodels.com/futaba-tx--rx-48v---96v-ac-adaptor-uk-charger-15081-p.asp Brian.

Perfect, that's just the thing, thank you 🙂

Engine Doctor
IMAX B6 will do it ok plus all your lipos up to 6s . They come with a selection of leads suitable for a lot of batteries except the XT type but adaptors a easily available. Club swapmeets are always a good source of used chargers. Just dont buy anything that looks like its been modified , caveat emptor !
