Simon Chaddock
For my foam light weights the date selected is less of a concern than the weather on the day. i will be there on the chosen date especially if it happens to be a flat calm! ☺️
Chris poyser
OK all after much research and deliberation, e mails from t,committee it has been decided we will revert to our more trad dates of middle of October of 13th or 20th, the club went for earlier dates in an attempt to go for more daylight and good weather but we have done pretty well over the years weather wise and those of you with travelling to do don’t stay late anyhoo this is due to it being brought to our attention a clash with BMFA buckminsters best of British scale flyin on the 29th and it’s easier to change our date. As for the 6th it’s an almost clash with a static event at RAF Cosford on the 28th and people coming from afar will be doing that. Also very close to us. so apologies for the last min changes I’m trying to make sure that we don’t affect other events close by and they don’t affect you and us overly as for the printed date in RCME there are no details printed of location so I’m hoping that anyone reading this will still contact me for details please please if you know of anyone who may not do electronic stuff please pass on messages and fingers crossed we haven’t messed it all up compleatly chris
Chris poyser
My bad typo the event at Cosford is on the 5th sorry to confuse, 🤔🤔
Chris poyser
A quick reminder that the scale day has been postponed, there are just to many flying on that day at buckminster and baldock to name two biggies so new dates are 13th of October with reserve of 20th any scale model any size any power can be flown from our hard and grass runways cheers all
Leek Dave
Hi. Just wondering. Is this event just open to club members or flyers. Or can general spectators come and have a look. I am interested in getting into the hobby and would love to come see what it’s all about Dave
George P.
Hi Dave, PM sent. You are welcome to come and have a look on the day.
Chris poyser
Spent the afternoon at Ashbourne and I can confidently say that postponing it until later in October is a good plan high winds are forecast tomorrow and when high winds are forecast Ashbourne is not pleasant and very cold so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 our good weather gods will return for scale day 13 th October gates open 8 30 flying starts at 10 til dusk or 6 pm whichever comes first, any scale model welcome be the big small or in between chris

Chris poyser
Sorry to hear that tim, I’m trying hard to find dates that suit all and failing miserably 🤪🤪 im checking the weather daily and long range so far says reasonably dry from 10 till 4 but I know this will change daily. on the subject of where the new site entrance is folks, the issue with some sat nav’s is that Harrison Way is a new access road to the industrial estate so to this end I can recommend using what3words if you have it or getting it if you dont typing into the search bar. Gangs.Ranches.Crafts. Will take you to the gates within 10 mtrs👍👍 chris Edited October 1 by Chris poyser

Chris poyser
Well it’s less than a week to go to our first date and so far long range suggests ok weather if a bit cold, do dig yer thermals out, I have had this update from chairman re post code DE6 1HA is the post code for the industrial estate. But finding us is much easier than in past with the new road and gates Harrison Way is the road off the new round about on the A52 Ashbourne to Derby road third exit of Harrison way is our entrance it’s actually the first set of gates. I’ve just put the post code into Google maps and it shows the new roundabout so all good if you have what3words it’s even easier gangs.ranches.crafts ( don’t forget the full stops) will put you right outside the gates. Grass strip is in fine fettle. Tarmac too. Loads of parking this year too.
Chris poyser
It’s all still on for Sunday my man local to site says weather forecast is good for Sunday, high pressure expected so that may mean early mists don’t panic they clear, but it will be very cold so thermals on folks chris
Chris poyser
Hell all its confirmed we are on tomorrow weather is good, sunny, dry and calm has been ordered but it will be cold, hot drinks available all day but wear your thermals. reminders of where we are DE6 1HA is the nearest postcode for industrial estate on Harrison Way third exit off on right, the first gates, is us manned from 8:30 till 10 after this the gates will be closed but not locked the site owner just asks all who enter or leave please close them behind yo gangs.ranches.crafts put into what3words will take you to the gate see yo there chris
Geoff S
Hope to see some of you tomorrow at Ashbourne. Weather's not perfect but it's forecast to be dry, chilly with fairly light winds - not too bad for mid October.

Paul Marsh
Just taking smaller sport scale models - enough to whet flying appetite but not too awkward to put away quickly.

Simon Chaddock
Chris First I must apologise for not being at the Ashbourne scale day but unfortunately I am at the moment on a powerful drug so any sort of driving is not recommended. However the weather here in Warrington this morning was absolutely superb so I actually took the opportunity to fly the one plane I really wanted to take to Ashbourne. I even took a video of today's flight. Here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtK_OI7xOto A glide landing, no damage. So disappointed not to have been there. Hope it all went well. Nick Cripps
Always a good day out at the Ashbourne Scale Day. Quite chilly, especially in the morning, with only a light breeze and some hazy sunshine from time-to-time. It was a pleasure to meet and talk to you, Richard, plus several forum members and the many others I spoke to. Thanks to Chris and the team at Derbyshire Radio Control Flyers for their welcome and the relaxed atmosphere at the event.
