Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Its a lot easier to make a good job with laser cut/ milled parts. I can tell you its a lot higher than my usual standard! I'm doing engineering, currently in my second year at college. Went to surrey Uni today. Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Anyone know where i can get some 1/4" to 1/2" thick cork floor tiles for building boards? Hopefully i will be able to take some models to uni! I think a heli would be better there, don't need as much room
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Been doing the hatch and sheeting on between F2 and F4, its a bit confusing how far up it goes, the plan is a bit crowded
Bruce Richards
Pete I got my cork tiles for my building board from Wickes.
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Been to topps tiles, B&Q, Wickes, Homebase and many more and not found anything
Barry Taylor
Peter,Have you thought about using Sundeala board instead of cork tiles. Its the stuff they make pin boards out of and is great for topping off the building board.
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Never heard of it! Got a link to a UK stockist?
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
I don't see how you are meant to position F7 in the correct position, it gives absolutely no position information on the plan or in the magazine
martyn sharp
Peter any model railway stockest will have sundealer I use it its great you can get in 4*2 sheets Martyn
Klippy
Hi Peter, I'd cut a piece of scrap using the angles shown on the plan, then tack it to F8. Then tack F7 to the scrap, once you're done you can knock out the scrap.
Terry Whiting
Peter, F7 problem, I'm producing a kit of parts from the freebee plane to build it as an electric, as I personally thought it a little over engineered as an electric model. Looking at the plan's side view of the fuselage , I drew a 90degree line from F8 to the base of F7, then from my scrap box I shaped two accurate pieces 3mm balsa sheet that fit precisely between F7 & F8, These will eventually be glued in position holding F7 in the correct position for stringing. Hope my method might help you. T.W. You beat me to it Tony Edited By Terry Whiting on 12/10/2009 08:42:
Klippy
No problem Terry, you said it so much better than I (I'm still waiting for my kit) Peter, it mught be worth referencing back to the canopy, pick up the height and angle from the back end of it. Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Ill try that method, just got back from Hobbystores, got some 3/16th balsa for the stringers. Just ahead, anyone know if this obechi wood is neccessary, can you use hard balsa instead?
Terry Whiting
Peter I will not be using obechi and never have. All my main spars are made as an ' I Beam' from good straight grain firm balsa, and 1.5mm lite ply.

Trevor Meakin
Peter , I managed to get a large Ceiling tile from work , ( the suspnded type ceilings you see in shops and offices and the like , It was spares I found not one I took from the actual ceiling ) This one measures about 4ft x 2ft x well over 1/2 inch thick , not sure what they are made from but they make a great building board when siloconed onto my building bench ... The Model is looking great , can't wait to see more photos of your progress .. Cheers Trev.

Trevor, good to see that you "borrowed" that tile legitimately, and aren't nicking the ceiling from over your workmates' heads Could be a promising thread - "things I have misappropriated in pursuit of our hobby" Edited By IanN on 12/10/2009 23:14:

Doug Ireland
Still waiting for mine too. Ordered a new engine, servos and Rx last night (another kick in the wallet), no idea when they will get delivered though especially with the Postal strike looming! So in the meantime we will have to content ourselves with Peters' build . Keep it coming Peter!
