Olly P
As the title and description say really, with the two 24Hr strikes now looking likely with a high probability of other, longer term strike action also to take place. Have any model retailers especially those online, planed any contingency options for delivery? And if they are, are they publishing this? I am mostley thinking of people such as GC (I'm about to place an order!) and BRC. anyone with any knowledge or thoughts? I for one would much prefer to place orders with someone who made alternative arrangements for deliveries, even if only as an option with increased cost if incurred by them. Bryce Allcorn - BritFlight.co.uk
Almost all of our deliveries are now via TNT. This is due to the huge number of orders we have had go missing in the last 3 months and the fact that we have to wait 28 days for a refund but have to send a replacement out straight away. Cost is similar for us. But believe me, TNT are not perfect - although we pay after delivery, not before! Cheers,
Marko
I think we should have another postal service like we have for our other utility bills we suffer for there demands then we could use who we wanted royal my ..................... BB
Me thinks THIS postal strike SO well timed will spark the death of the 'standard' UK postal service. Lets see how the privateers fare in 2010. We can ALL look forward to higher charges. BB
Stephen Grigg
Galaxy have been sending my items by courier to ensure I receive them
NigelH
Sussex state 'IN THE EVENT OF INDUSTRIAL ACTION BY ROYAL MAIL - WE WILL ARRANGE TO DELIVER ALL ORDERS BY CARRIER (AT NO EXTRA COST) TO ENSURE YOUR ORDER GETS THROUGH.'.
Essjay
Postman tried to deliver a packet today, and had to leave a card. He's written on the card "Please leave 24 hours before collecting" Surely he should have put 48 hours !!
Olly Giles
Thats a point. What about RCM&E subscribers? mine didnt come today and there is no post tomorrow so do we just have to wait?
Ben Mullins
Hurmph. I hope they have contingency measures, I've just gone and ordered a load of stuff from Galaxy. However, not every Postal Worker will strike. My Uncle (a Postie) see's it as risking his job, so takes no part in any strikes.

inspector9566
got my mag this morning. took this from rm web site Royal Mail workers’ union (the CWU) have announced plans for two 24-hour postal strikes on Thursday 22nd Oct and Friday 23rd Oct. On the first day, mail centre staff and drivers will strike. On the second day, delivery and collection staff will strike
Romeo Whisky
My alter ego - Baldrick has a cunning plan .... My theory is that for the next few days no-one will post anything. So NOW is the time to order stuff because Royal Mail will have so little stuff to shift on the non-strike days that it'll arrive even quicker than before. BRC are posting me some stuff today! inspector9566
rw if you have stuff posted today there it a chance that it will be at the bottom of a big stack of back logged parcels hope its not fragile

andy watson
I ordered some paints from Fighteraces on wednesday, and it all turned up this morning. An engine part from Just engines that was ordered about the same time also turned up. Actually it was a bit like christmas as some servo leads turned up from Hong Kong too. So all in all it seems like the strike was a bit of a non event for me!
