Eddie Stocker - Formerly, DB Sport and Scale
1. Mode 2. 2. West Wales (Pembrokeshire). 3. Midlands (Delta Hawks Model Flying Club) in 1983 4. Instructor (Simon Brenchly of "Orion Airways") a tough but fair teacher, he taught me take offs & landings in one hour. I use his methods with others, they are clear, concise and easy to follow.Edited By Eddie Stocker - DB Sport and Scale on 12/01/2010 20:21:

Lima Hotel Foxtrot
Mode 2.Surrey.Surrey.First TX was mode 2, as is my instructor. In fact, all the instructors at my club are mode2. There is one mode 1 flyer (as far as I know) and he learnt abroad. So maybe there isn't much of a north/south divide as a comparison to Uk vs The World? Ruud Lobel
Mode 3, which is uncommon for the Netherlands.Nowadays I fly in the middle of Holland (Gelderland), but I learnt it more to the south (Noord Brabant). I learnt flying using this mode from my dad. Edited By Ruud Löbel on 12/01/2010 20:53:54Edited By Ruud Löbel on 12/01/2010 20:56:

Eddie Stocker - Formerly, DB Sport and Scale
Hello All, Reading through these stats, it might be interesting also to find out how many self taught pilots have learned their skills mainly (or purely) from flight simulators. When I learned to fly in 1983 (no tests then) no such thing existed, but there are at least 2 in our club that I am aware of, who learned that way. Also, I would have struggled with my 'B' test without one. Just a thought.

timberfix
Mode 2 South East South East Self taught Mode 2 was how the ARTF instructions said it should be. Who was i to argue ? Just read DB sport & scale post, i did spend a lot of time on a pheonix sim, and dont think i could have done it without it, excellent learning tool.Edited By timberfix on 12/01/2010 21:08:
David Tappin
I live in Hampshire and fly mode 2. I was self taught on the slopes when living in Scotland and started on mode 1 but changed to mode 2 because I wanted to help with my club's training scheme which was mode 2 based. I crashed more models changing from 1 to 2 than I did learning in the first place! I started flying RC in 1969, not too many simulators available then. Thought my full-size experience would help, how wrong I was!
