  2. Here's the prototype at the 1965 Nationals where it placed 4th. According to the report in Model Aircraft magazine the 'magnificent' model 'would certainly have fought for top honours' if not for mysterious fuel feed troubles.

  3. Hi all, I’m a member of Shropshire Model Flying Club, based a couple of miles from Montford Bridge, just off the A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry. We currently have spaces for new members, and would welcome newcomers to the hobby and experienced pilots alike. We have access to a well cut grass patch and a tarmac strip (formerly part of the old WW2 airstrip at Forton). We fly both fixed wing and helicopters in a relaxed and pleasant environment, and have use of one of the old airfield buildings as well. Please feel free to give me a message, and we’d be happy to welcome people for a look around and see if you like what you see!

  5. Agree with Don, they're all whingers, as for drivers I'd want mine pushing the limits. Hope Ferrari get in the mix this year that'll wind Horner up and Toto no idea what Dorothy would think. Changed my team already, Merc looks an handful, c'mon the red uns. ?

  6. Each rib is 200 mm long, 25.4 mm tall, 3 mm thick and weighs 1.24 g. I have not made a direct comparison with a balsa rib but it would have to use pretty soft stock to match the weight and as a result would not be as stiff. This printed rib was intended to be match one cut from 3 mm thick Depron sheet. The printed rib ended up about the same weight is considerably stiffer but is of course far more accurate in profile and is readily repeatable, just by pressing a button. ?

  8. With 3D CAD, I've found what works best for me is to record everything I do as I go along. This way I have gradually built up my own manual of the best ways of doing each kind of task.

  9. Hi John. I do have a plan that you can copy. The only problem is that the tip profile for the wing and tail is not on the plan. Some of the former dimensions are also missing. The wing /tail drawings are not to scale. I have spent some time calculating and comparing wing profiles. I do have an original kit and could draw around the missing components for you. I have now built 4 with my calculated wing and tail and could include the template drawings as well. They all flew extremely well. The latest is in paint and will be used in the new season. 10. While looking at the row of Barons at our club's static exhibition last weekend, I suddenly realised that my model, which I built in 2018, is finished in Russian markings. OK they are Great War colours but with the collapse of Communism, Russian military aircraft have reverted to similar markings. I propose to replace the Russian cockades with those of the Ukrainian Air Force. I am aware of course that replacing the roundels on a toy aeroplane will make no difference to the plight of the Ukrainian people but the financial donation I made to Save The Children may help Ukrainian refugees.

  11. I (re) learned using a Tutor 40. I couldn't fault it as a trainer, nice relatively low wing loading, very stable and predictable and you could really slow it down for landing. The only recommendation would be to throw the plasticene undercarriage away and replace it with piano wire/ You can download the plans for the Goldberg Falcon 56 plans from Outerzone however that was sold as an aerobatic trainer IIRC.
