  1. hello john, interesting I've seen it before but could never figure out how it could maintain a flight....I'll follow you build etc....thanks. ken anderson...ne...1...flight dept.
  2. up here in ne...1...land........... following Fridays 90mph winds, I've never seen as much devestation.Buildings with roofs removed completely,100's of trees lying on their sides and everywhere you look roofs with holes in them.1000's still with no electricity supply,no water,no mobile phone, internet and cut off good and proper. Our town centre has the road through it closed due to unsafe structures. ken anderson...ne...1...devestation dept.
  3. this thread is getting muddled....started off as examiner, now its heading to raw beginners turning up at a site etc...i think that AS link above says it all really....and needs to be read...as its a totally different subject.... ken anderson...ne..1..raw beginners dept.
  4. the crack was, they do generate more heat,so in electric...no wrap,ic wrap in loose foam ken anderson..ne..1..wrap dept.
  5. hello Ernie, have you been given a reason for your post getting deleted? ken anderson...ne..1.post deleted dept.
  6. well said Andrew.....years ago at our club it was touched upon that every member must have an A cert, and there was a heated exchange and the idea never came back, and rightly so a lot of people said"i've been flying models for years, why should i be made to do a test now?" so why have the achievement scheme? Fair enough if its for an individual to be able to demonstrate their competency, and have a cert to prove it,but it seems to becoming more than that. Why not do away with the A/B and C and have the RCC,and make that do. There must be thousands of model flyers who couldn't give a jot about certificates or RCC tests ect,and quite happy enjoying the hobby/pastime. as Andrew says its a "hobby"...playing with toy aeroplanes......ken anderson...ne..1...toy aeroplanes dept.
  7. your right KC,there was mention of the book going to the national war museum as a unique/priceless record of the camp...to be saved and shared with everyone .. ken anderson...ne...1..war dept.
  8. that's a shame Richard,i can see a few long standing/existing examiners doing the same ....it can be argued that why?... but i see the new introduced bits and pieces will put off a lot... ken anderson...ne..1..bits and pieces dept.
  9. BEB is a miss...canny lad who i met a couple of times. ken anderson...ne..1...BEB dept.
  10. I've mentioned before...........my friends dad was a Halifax pilot,35 squadron, shot down in 1944 and ended up in stalag luft 111(the great escape camp) cooking on one of the stoves that had a tunnel underneathis dad was a bit of an artist and he showed me a book c/w drawings in he had made during his stay in the camp.it has drawings of the huts and drawings of the men gardening(naked) so they didn't spoil their uniforms. His name didn't get entered into the escape and as such he stayed in the camp. after the war in 1963,the camp survivors were invited to the first showing of the the film "the great escape" at London, when they came out and were comparing notes, they all agreed what a load of Tripe it was..... ken anderson...ne...1....Tripe dept. substitute Tripe for your own words....☠️
  11. hello Andy, after i had done the RCC,it said it would be added to my list of achievments, and shortly afterwards(nxt day) it appeared.. ken anderson...where's andy's RCC gone dept.
  12. hello Denis,on the video it mentions that the kits are an absolute steal for the price(they are) i was in Aldi one day last week they had 2-3 dozen of the kits,a couple of days later...none...either keen modellers or someone wanting to sell them on at a profit. ken Anderson...ne...1..profit dept.
  13. subs are subs,we get nothing for nothing in the times we are living in.As regards the falling numbers of BMFA members and the National centre..the only way i can imagine to make the site pay its way is to let it out for a multitude of different events...a couple of large gatherings a year of paying visitors will be the way to go...depending on model flying stuff wont pay the bills. ken anderson...ne..1..economics dept.
  14. anyone want to make a cheap scale model of a U-Boat? ..... i found it on twitter and thought it was quirky. ken anderson...ne..1..u-boat dept.

  17. i have wrote off two DB Dracons in two years by selecting the wrong model in the TX(Hitec A9)while busy talking/distracted...and not paying enough attention....i find that we become a little complacent sometimes... ken anderson...ne...1..distracted dept.
  18. commiserations from me Adrian.....a long time ago when starting out on the RC road i came to the conclusion that what went up had to come down...somehow. Over the years i've lost a few(some on a maiden flight) and accept it as part of the hobby....... it is a little worse when we realise its something we have done that's caused the wreckage.. ken anderson...ne..1....gravity dept.
  19. bit of a sticky topic is this thread. ken anderson...ne..1. pva dept.
