  1. Dont claim to be an expert but diesels can take a good bit of running in from new, running richer to aid cooling. Did you get a set of instruction with the engines ,if so follow the 'running in' procedures, ifyou dont have any I could probably fix you up with a set. Dave
  2. David, you shouldnt have too much problemss if all timber is metric. Buy yourself a balsa stripper and make up your own stripwood cheaper, and you can make things to fit without too much hassle. Dave

Seems like most of us are at about the same level of completion having said that I,ve stalled due to having to go into hospital for an op,I,m in my 3rd week of recuperation, but have a string of appointments to attend plus Idont feel up to much right now. My feed back is as follows,1.plans very good and accurate. 2. laser cutting very good and good fits.3.not too keen on the cowling will probably make a f/g cowl. shortages and other issues encountered. No captive nuts ,as mentioned in other posts. Engine mount far too big for any forty size engine I possess, my OS FSR 60 fits a treat. Neither wing mount plates tapped accurately,i,m not too keen on the method and will be using captive nuts.I, like other forumites have found that trying to bend wood round complex curve even when wet doesnt produce a good end result I,m just at the point of curving the upper fuse sides so well see what happens.I have taken a pile of photos as I carried out each stage of the build, but up to now no wriiten instructions. My intention is to write a specific script with mainly pictorial back up. Hope you dont think I,m being too pedantic in my comments Regards Dave

  13. I have had very good results using Flair paints both in the spray cans and the small tins and then using my own spray equipment. very good results can be acheived using a good quality brush using the tinned paint. The key toa good paint job is careful subsuface preparation.

  16. Hi Tim, I assume that you have no knowledge of plans/drawings,so the first thing is to read all notes on the drawings and try to learn the terminology and protocols.bold continueous lines usually mean it is an outline of a part or assembly,A dotted line indicates an underlying/ unseen/ hidden detail.on our model drawings the parts could well be numbered e.g W1 indicates wing rib no.1 F 1 indicates fuselage/body part,T 1 indicates tail part. Make sure that if there are 2 components which are left and right handed in orientation you make one of each. always double check to make sure you dont glue something that later you find is wrong hand, upside down or back to front. At least you have a good start by getting a wood pack as all the bits are cut for you.If you are in a club enlist the aid of an experienced model builder, they are normally happy to guide you in the right direction. What area do you live in Tim, sometimes it,s far easier to show you how, than to tell you how. Dont hesitate to post any queries on this forum, tons of experience dave
  17. I had one of those calls saying he was a microsoft tech, and he was going to clear my computer of its infections,I Ied him to believe he was convincing me and then hung up.He rang back almost immediately and I enquired as to where he got my number he gave some sort of nondescript reply mentioning registrations etc .I saw red big style, as I am thoroughly sick of getting unsolicited calls, I let rip with a few choice expletives calling him a scammermentioning his perceived colour and his doubtful parentage.Never had some cold caller get so upset, pity that.Had no more calls since, so it must have been effective, works for me.   Edited By sticky fingers on 23/07/2015 21:04:31
