  1. I used to do that. Plug in, wiggle for a while, centre, disconnect. Then I got a cheap tester that can centre, and 'exercise' the servo through full movement at a selectable speed. New servos now get exercised in this way, for about 30 mins, before being centred and installed. Came from ebay for a few pounds and has lasted years..... For a while, I had a similar function programmed into my transmitter, but I kept wanting to use the tx for other things!
  2. Does this help? https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2416852-Futaba-6K-thread/page2
  3. I was assuming 3s - I should have said, sorry.
  4. Similar experience with my FW190, also on a TX16S. I've got rates on expert mode at 25% of the beginner rates, and it's still VERY challenging. I tend to fly in intermediate then switch to expert if I want to loop or roll, then switch it back pdq!

  6. I din't think anyone said Ardupilot has range limitations. However, anything that transmits or receives electronically does have - like the tx, rx, fpv etc. Unless you have access to sattelites I suppose. So making such a comment is disingenuous. My concerns are that if your model is 50km away, and something goes wrong, I don't believe that you would be able to control it. And because you're BVLOS, you'd not have full view of the airspace around you even if you could. No idea what kind of flightmap you'd be filing with the authorities, but if something has gone wrong, you may well stray from it. I know commercial 'drones' do this autonomous flying, but I suspect they are using more sophisticated equipment, with layers of redundancy - you may well have redundancy, I don't know. Personally, I think it's irresponsible in the extreme to fly such machinery at such distances without insurance, but it's your risk and as you're not in the UK, me, my family and animals are safe. I'm glad you had your answers - happy flying!
  7. I guess the skill and fun is in preparing the model, and programming the flight controller. Then chuck it in the air and hope it does what you want, as all the gadgets and gizmos enabling you to see what's happening must have some range limitations. It's flying 'a la Amazon delivery drone'.......... and I assume insurance is costly, and red tape abounds. Losing a model would be the least of my worries.
  8. Had a nice couple of hours over lunchtime, went from -2° at 8:30 to 9° at 11:30...... calm, sunny. I was billy no mates until I left. Nice time flying my Saito powered Spacewalker, and my little Arrows Hawk. Need it to stay dry for a few days so we can get a mower on the runway - 8 of my first 9 take-off attempts resulted in a nose over.
  9. 🙂 Best wishes for Friday.
  10. That's mahoosive! Why less chance of breaking a prop?
  11. Had a nice few hours out. The entrance to our field is still bog-like, and it's all still soft underfoot so it needed a few trips from the car to the pits.... Well worth it. Calm, warm(ish), dry. Nice time flying the Wotty and baby FW190. Think the LiPos for my Hawk are past it though... Surprisingly, only Phil and I were taking advantage of a most excellent day!
  12. Is your other hobby walking under ladders?
  13. How much red tape is involved in your planned flying? Presumably some is BVLOS.....
  14. I dislike Red Bull and Mr Horner, buy it's not me...
  15. "Pooped up...." ...... excellent!
  16. That was advertised as a Durafly Vampire? Jeepers!
  17. Isn't there some consideration of frame rate on Spekky radios that means you can't mix and match......? I could well be misremembering; and if not, it could well apply to other brands.
  18. Yes, I did mean that, ta Peter.
  19. I read erflogs post meaning, for example, an electric Mini is taller than an IC Mini.............. no idea if this is true or not. And I may have misinterpreted the intention.
  20. Oddly, toto's escs don't fail in flight.... he flies successfully, lands successfully & disconnects the power source. On plugging in the new esc....... nothing. Very odd.
  21. In contrast, my Double Trouble has been brilliant.....
  22. Pretty poor to be honest. In the end, I added two metal L-shaped brackets. One end is outside the undercarriage leg (NOT between the leg and model) and uses the existing bolt and captive nut; the other end is bolted to the front of the firewall. It's currently in pieces - can't remember why - but the undercarriage is still attached! It's a shame as it flies really nicely. I'm sure I'll get around to fixing it......
