  1. If you get that, you'll need minimum stuff... and some will depend on how you kit it out and what additional items you'll buy. Probably: A board to build it on A knife to cut balsa Sanding block & sandpaper Tiny screwdrivers for servo screws Small Allen keys for wheel collets (or you could solder some wire/washers) Pins Glues Something to drill little holes for servos - a pin vice and bits will do fine and save the expense of a Dremel Some household tools: Pliers Stanley knife
  2. @TerryC123 what are you going to build first?
  3. Think it's been this long for a while........
  4. As well as the above, I've found a jig for building is pretty useful - SLEC do a good one. Mine's on some cheap MDF that sits on my 'proper' building board when in use. I've used my vice more times than I can think of. Not as good as a wire bender for.... bending wire.... but useful. Decent allen keys and screwdrivers are pretty essential. Spanners for things like prop nuts, engine mounts ...... Also find needle files useful for easing hole/lugs in, for example, formers. It soon mounts up! Does depend on what you're building though as some things won't necessarily be needed for 'this' project.
  5. Couldn't get them to fit any other way........... would have much preferred inverted.
  6. 2 strokes certainly fit better than my sidewinder 4 strokes My undercarriage reinforcement was simply epoxying triangular stock around the plate and F2. Interesting view re undercarriage......... has anyone tried it both ways?
  7. Yes, just get a replacement from the supplier. @Greg- sorry it's been a disappointment; 'Straight out of the box' was supposed to have been simple!
  8. Not sure that's possible on the included tranny Denis.......
  9. Sounds like a plan to me!
  10. Lol. They just went... "whoooooosh". I'll bung 'em on YT rather than just inserting the mp4.
  11. And a slightly bigger one.... VID-20230128-WA0008.mp4
  12. Something different at the field today - apparently so much fun that there was not much rc activity... hope they were careful as our landlord was muck-spreading in that field warlier in the week... VID-20230128-WA0007.mp4 VID-20230128-WA0007.mp4
  13. There's at least one in every club - we have a relatively new flier who refuses to reduce throws and tries to compensate with bucket loads of expo......
  14. Does it have a great lump of steel in the nose like the Riot? Removing that transformed my Riot.......
  15. I'm with your instructor. Hound Dog should be a nice, manageable step up. And much more fun!
  16. Presumably you now fly it with all the 'aids' off?
  17. I don't use much, and just found a can of smelly dope at the back of a cupboard so was using it up 🙂I can wait until the weather warms up..... Managed other messy jibs whilst wife at work 😈
  18. I agree - hardware is much better than, say the leccy Riot. Only challenge was mounting my engine - needed to fill and drill the firewall. Undercarriage fixed back on mine now - with some reinforcement! I'll probably fit the cowl in the next few days - that's decent quality too.
  19. Well, I bought the Chippie colour scheme Ruckus as a 'spare' model, in case I totalled one of my others. Realised everything I needed to kit it out was laying around doing nothing...... so it's built and flying. Mine is IC powered with a sidewinder engine install - no cowl at mo' - not likely to be much left on one side anyway. I use a four stroke (TT54) so no problems with exhaust/undercarriage clashing. Wouldn't have worked inverted or upright as tank:carb position would be pants. It flies nicely but the under carriage is definitely weak - mine came off on the frozen ground a few days ago in a relatively good landing. It's bolted to a thick enough piece of ply but that's just keyed to the firewall (again, an OK size), and a flimsy former at the back, which is going to be under compression in any landing. Nothing keyed to sides of fuselage, and no reinforcement if glued areas by, for example, triangular stock. At least it caused minimal damage when it ripped out..... 😀
  20. Weather gods were bored and thought they'd taunt me.......
  21. Greetings Terry..... you may need to narrow it down a bit! Size? Motive power? Channels? Type (sports, scale, vintage etc)? Skill level? I guarantee you'll get suggestions.
