  1. In the BMFA handbook, when taking the "A" test, it says the candidate should not fly at full throttle after take off, because it shows the candidate "is not thinking". What does that mean? Why is full throttle not thinking?
  2. Do not plans ordered by post, online, etc. come under the "Distance Selling Regulations", where, if the item ordered is unsatisfactory, or you just do not want it, it can be returned and the cost is refunded ?

  5. J.N.. try this :- First, do not have a prop on the motor.   Next, connect the three motor to ESC wires. Now plug in the ESC to your receiver motor socket. Now switch on your transmitter, and move the throttle to full power.   Now, (and only now,) connect the battery. There should be a few "beeps", or a tune sound, now move the throttle to off, there should now be more beeps or tune.   Pause a few seconds, then slowly open the throttle, and the motor should run, following the movement of the throttle stick. If the motor is running "backwards" , disconnect battery and swap any two motor to ESC wires.
  6. There is one drawback with using I C props on electric motors, in that if the IC prop makes "forcible" contact with the ground etc, with it being "strong" the motor shaft is more likely to be bent, or the motor damaged in some way. The E-prop, being thinner, is more prone to break, so saving the motor.   Don't ask me how I know.
  7. I take it that all the props tried have been balanced ?
  8. Thanks to all, have a selection to choose from now. DH.
  9. Thanks, Jim, but Perkins don't have anything, but have found Vortex Vacforms and MRM Models, both with a selection.
  10. Hello, Does anyone know of a UK shop/supplier of cockpit canopies in various sizes and styles?   In the past , I think Micro-Mold used to do a range, but they don't exist now.   I've tried Inwood and Slec w/sites, but nothing there,   Thanks, D.H.
  11. If using the razor blade/stanley blade idea, you will also need a spirit level to make the blades truly horizontal, otherwise the prop will just run "downhill", balanced or not.
  12. With mode-1 any interaction should have less effect as aileron and elevator are isolated, rudder and particularly throttle being a little less critical in aerobatics so causing less noticable deviation from the flight path I intend the model to follow. Any comment?   Precisely why Mode 1 is " better "
  13. Does H&S allow sharp pencils ?   On Quest tonight 9 pm "Future weapons" a spy plane that fits in a rucksack.
  14. Steve-- I would really like to build a Bucker Jungmeister when I get the time.....I remember Gordon Whitehead did a lovely plan for one in Radio Modeller back in the early 80's The plan is still available from the USA I think see here Interestingly Mr Whitheads model is about the same as my Pitts at 40.5" span but is recommended for a 25 two stroke......I'd hate to fly my Pitts on such a small engine.... ========================= G. Whitehead plan of Jungmeister from MHS plans, No. RM 217 bottom of page 4, radio control scale.
  15. Any gloss polyurethane paint , ( from DIY shop ) will be fuelproof, as will the "Hammerite" paints.
  16. I fly totally electric, and use both electric props and power props. Sometimes the size of prop needed is only available as a power prop. I have found that the Graupner grey props work well on electrics, as do the APC power props.   The chief thing to remember, is to balance whichever prop you use.
  17. With a tailplane of that area , could you not treat the model as a tandem wing type?   The C.G. could perhaps then be back near the T.E. of the front wing.   How about making a small scale profile model and test it for gliding, altering the C.G. to get a stable glide, this should indicate where to put it on the " fullsize model ".   I believe Chris Golds does this to " prove " his models, before drawing his plans.
  18. " A good part why I show my build process is to get feed back, some of it as to date on this thread. Normally I get a lot less than I hope for. In this case it is about "Blue foam Bodies", as this will be the first full body made from foam, for me. I am sure that others will have done more and have hard learnt lessons to pass on, if they can be reached. "   Try contacting Chris Golds, he has designed and built lots of models using blue foam.
  19. You could also try Google Chrome, very quick to d/load and install.
  20. Thanks, Erfolg, the model is converted to electric so there should be no problem with vibration.   I ordered yesterday, arrived this A.M. ! First time i've used BRC, I'm impressed !   These servos have a full complement of fittings, including the bushes, and four arms.   They are rated at 1.5Kg tq, so should be plenty of power there, but we shall see.
  21. Thanks, all, I think I"l go for the BRC 4 pack.
  22. I am ,for the first time, considerig using 9gram servos to operate ailerons.   I would like any recommendations as to brand etc.   The model is a small 40" span Jungmeister, from the Gordon Whitehead plan of some years ago.   Each servo would drive the two ailerons ( top and bottom wings ) on each side.   Any comments welcome, Thanks.
  23. What is Peel Ply ? Never heard of it.
