  1. To be on the safe side OG, for some of the solders used, then below 70C, although "too hot to touch" is a frequent occurrence, and I know this to be from 90C from my school days. Test it in flight
  2. There is a full article about model launching on the Home Page of this site by Dave Royds
  3. It switches on/off Pete, on the switch assigned to Aux1
  4. The top picture is titled Aileron The bottom is titled Aileron+ Is this a clue?
  5. Hopefully on my part John, the "nose in" damage and replacement parts have assumed a new thrust angle, which on the original was quiten a noticable bit of down and side thrust. I would start there, to simulate the original angles. Provided the tail feathers are as they were, they should be ok But do one thing at a time, for example, some down thrust, then test flight, then some side thrust then test flight. Do not introduce 2 changes in "one go", as you will lose track of the differences that you make Edited By Denis Watkins on 10/10/2016 20:01:40
  6. Yes John, this could be the case with other peripherals too, such as disc player etc There are downloads available, and for the Printer, I downloaded the driver from Epsom's site
  7. Oh heck OG, I didn't realise immediately, I do keep DSM2 gear going as it serves many boxed ARTFs for indoor flying through the winter. Also, the DSM2 Orange receivers weigh a few grammes when stripped of the 6 grm case for homebuilt depron indoor flyers.
  8. OG, the R620X does work with the DX8. One bind plug, as you say to use telemetry. Make sure your sensors are plugged in, and power supply is not low. Have the throttle low and trimmed down, the flashing LED goes to Solid on, very quickly
  9. Hi Eric, a flashing light on the receiver is a sign that it is Unbound or low on power, and if flashing on the ESC, as said, is low power or signal loss. If this is a new installation, it signifies throttle high, which needs either the throttle trimming right down/off, or the throttle is reversed
  10. Brilliant informative thread, belongs in RCME Jon
  11. If this doesn't work, the THRO needs reversing And both ways, make sure that the throttle TRIM is set LOW too
  12. Mark, go into programme mode THRO stick to full Hear 2 beeps THRO stick to low Get out of Program The brake is now on
  13. Hi Mr B, there is very little/no oil pressure on most 4 strokes on the rockers, so perhaps a monthly foray with an oil can under the rocker covers. With frequent running, some oil does get up there, but we tend to rotate our model outings, so a motor can go quite some time and dry out more
  14. This ARTF situation is a pain JB, I know that I am wrong to tolerate this problem, but I just don't expect ARTF offerings to be right. I would have no models if I had sent them back, as non of them were fit for purpose. The supplied fittings are never used, and always replaced by me. The whole model seldom fits together without some major fettling. I am in the wrong, I know this, but I can get flying quicker if it is expected that ARTF just isn't ready to fly. 15. Hi Martin, there is a lot of googling to try and get this aircraft in that place at that time, if it wasn't seen by us. I only found 2 museum Provost on the move recently, one near Coventry, and one at Newark air Museum. Some months ago, private buyers were discussing acquiring a jet, and this could have been one of their movements. It is spectacular when our favourites appear up close, even on a low loader
  16. What size motors Chris? As it is possible to modify the existing silencers. There are aluminium wheel repair garages, all around the country, who also repair cylinder heads, for a small fee will Ali weld small add ons Edited By Denis Watkins on 30/09/2016 07:43:27
  17. Do you have machines Chris? On the Mossie I would checkn on the available space and then outlet angle. You should be able to make long silencers in those nacelles. If the angle is beyond my machine, I get Weston UK to build a silencer. If it is just a modification of the existing silencer, then tube is added to the middle, and a longer bolt put through, or a new exit box is fabricated from thick tube with a new outlet
  18. When DSM2 was in fashion Eric, I bought the Orange Tx and a few RX for indoor flying, as at the time, I was still on 35mhz, and the Orange gave me a £49 Tx entry into 2.4 gig, as it would then bind to ARTF warbirds and the like for indoor with multiple pilots operating. With correct installation and battery monitoring, there were no problems DSMX is now the Authorised signal and you are at the crossroads. DSMX are available in the £69 range and will expand your capability. DSMX is all that you can buy with this manufacturer now, and is the immediate future with this make
  19. Just a note Allan, on all my Tx, Futaba, Spectrum and JR, THR cut only works on the Throttle channel. My only twin did THR cut successfully, but I slaved the Aux channel to the THR, with no other mixes, so effectly controlling 2 motors from one channel, unlike your recipe
  20. Hi George, All manufacturers recommend that charging cells are Never left unattended, and are removed from the model. Most of us charge Nihms inside the model, but never overnight and never unattended, and they do get warm. Put this one down to a " lucky escape" Edited By Denis Watkins on 28/09/2016 17:11:45
  21. Robert, the single antenna has served us for decades, and does so presently. It is quite a scare when no response is felt, but these can be minimised with good prep and installation
  22. The DX6 upgrade works fine Robert, but just as important is the Receiver installation and type. The twin aerial receivers are very reliable but must be installed with care from screening as all 2.4. Gig
  23. If you have a friend in a local high school Martin, then most Technology Departments run a 3D printer nowadays as well as Laser CNC
  24. The Multiplex G3 specifically states, it is to be mounted near to the C of G, this is the pitch axis of the wing. I will have more time tomorrow to publish the specific references of mounting on model axis, from manufacturers Experts on this site can fly well enough and may mock Technology, but where Technology is available it should be supported if only for those with an interest in such devices, and should not play demolition derby with every post Edited By Denis Watkins on 22/09/2016 21:54:42
