Best IC engine for Vic Smeed Tomboy

As above, and diesel fuel is expensive, but these engines are frugal. Both need props, both have compression stop pins missing ( better picture of red one needed ) , spray bar missing from silver one... Silencers ???? Were an alloy tube u shaped clamped around c/case.... If you ever bump into the Dr., Take some old money with you !!!!!! 😁 -
I am nearly out of litespan, only seconds left with solar, what are people using as an alternative please ? I know of doculam, is that available precoloured ?

Best IC engine for Vic Smeed Tomboy

I have yet to love a mills 0.75 which came with other engines I purchased from a member on here. I intend a brief thread on each engine, some being very involved as they are stick solid... As to RC carbs/air intakes, a recent rcme article may help, but if not ( you don't have a lathe etc. ) think PAW, or possibly dens model supplies Cox 049 RC air intake. I suspect the alloy *air intake* which is RC controlable, may be glued into the grey plastic "pipe"..... Don't know if the grey plastic is diesel fuel tolerant yet. In some Welsh towns we have *inovation centres* offering laser cutting, 3 d printing, cad etc. Etc etc.. ...Porthmadog being one of them. More research to do on that subject..... -

If I remember correctly, there was an article in rcme this year about a tomboy. Cannot remember which engine was in it though. These old free flight and even rubber powered convert well to light weight RC and suitable ic engines, even electric.....good fun. Oh solar stuff like lightspan and clear coat, please come back ......... -
We're can you get clearcoat please ?

Messy two stroke engines, have they got any better?
Rich Griff replied to martin collins 1's topic in All Things Model Flying
Skin friction perhaps ? By that I mean fuselage skin friction, not your hand. -
Wanted, anything COX really, in particular peewee fuel tank

As John days, donation to Wales air ambulance plus sane amount from me. I would love a helo flight but not on a stretcher ! Thanks John. -

Ever thought of an exhaust extension....only *mess* seen on starboard half of tailplane but tiny amounts of residue on fuz starboard and wing central area starboard. More muck from flying site really... The extension I made does not seem to reduce engine power or cause issues....a 40 sized aerobatic wot 4 lookalike ish.... Saving for a petrol..... Enjoy -

Yes, sceptre flight, been going for some time now, even mention on here from time to time. Still a good find thought. 👍

However, lots of bells and whistles, more complexity, fiddle factor, buttonitice and " lack of old school mechanical set up" resulting in electronic trimming needed, by virtue of a complicated multi function, lots of switches computer tx, mmmmmmmmm. Not sure what tx John used, but he did state I think, that he set up plane *old school * mechanically wise, the proper way ? Will re read thread......later, burning sunshine on here..... Have a great day.

Thread drift !!! 🤓😁👍😠😭🥳🤣😎🤔😸 The culprit/reason for the unplanned arrival has been identified, probably. Radio failure was not the problem, probably... "My" faith in futaba reinforced !!! It was never in doubt really 👍

So was the servo arm slippage on the servo output shaft caused by the crash, or by aileron deflection from an external source during flight ? Was the servo arm the correct arm for that servo ? Same effective spline diameter and number of splines, or worn components ? Glad you have found the culprit. So so glad it's not a *futaba fault*. Hopefully futaba controlled planes falling out if the sky will be due to " operator error ", which could be a very very long list...... A servo arm slipping with a relatively large *torque* force applied, one might expect a *aileron to control horn interface* failure or servo mounting ( less likely I would have thought ) failure..... May I ask, what is the aileron structure ( solid balsa, no ply reinfirment, built up aileron structure ? ) and any sign of failure due to aileron movement whilst no control horn movement ? Aileron hinges come into play.... Anyways, cause found, only limited damage to aircraft, and a reminder for us all to "check, check, check", and probably check again. Absolutely brilliant weather again. Cheers John.

May I ask, why would you wish that GG ?

Hi Jd8, yes please just waiting for internet, one min wait for pm..... -
Wanted, anything COX really but in particular, a peewee 20 fuel tank for modification. Anything Cox, stuck solid or filthy, prestige examples would be too expensive for me besides I enjoy bringing them back to life. Even parts and odds.... So if you have had enough of that stuck solid little gem, please post a reply with a picture. I am not a shop or wheeler dealer, just a Cox fan. Is there a covered in castor gum broken pt19 out there I wonder.....? Any pt19 parts ? Thanks...

Compression ratio and its associated problems/advantages....
