  1. Great flying on Saturday, got my new Boomerang in the air but had a few dead sticks running in the mk4 Irvine 46, the instruction manual is not as straightforward as a the OS46 I had in the previous Boomerang but I’m learning a lot about glow engines. Got a few flights in Sunday morning, breezy with a cross wind but good practice. Looking good for Friday afternoon and next weekend. 😁
  2. That's not the intent, it's a process of elimination to try and identify what the blank page issue could be that isn't being experienced by everyone. Thought I would try and assist as this is an area I have some knowledge in, however it looks like it's going to be more trouble than it's worth so I'll step away.
  3. If you start Firefox in safe mode do you experience the same issue? Instructions on how to start Firefox in safe mode at https://www.wikihow.com/Start-Firefox-in-Safe-Mode
  4. How did you get on with an alternative browser such as Edge or Chrome?
  5. Could be FF build and plugin differences between you and another user.
  6. If running an updated version of Windows 10 you do have it. Edge is the inbuilt internet browser in Windows 10 since Internet Explorer was retired in June last year. There are numerous ways of starting it as documented at https://www.digitalcitizen.life/start-microsoft-edge/ Curious to see if your problem is related to Firefox.
  7. I've assembled two Boomerangs and had to replace all clevises, replace control horns, throw the under carriage in the bin and replace, repair holes in the rubbish covering and admire the amount of filler in the airframe. However they're a lot cheaper than buying a plan and balsa, quick to assemble on a dining table and they fly very well.
  8. During my first 10 months with a Boomerang flying in as many conditions as possible in the main practicing the A test and countless landings I've had no use for dual rates. I did find some of the controls a bit sensitive initially and was shown how to address this mechanically. Recently I've got an Easyglider whos speed range greatly varies from thermal hunting to high speed passes. I find the controls for high speed are too sensitive so for the first time I'm using dual rates to tame it. Being on a tight budget I've bought a few small glow engines and a bunch of foam board to knock up some models and I'll be using dual rates for the early flights to tame any over sensitivity. For me there are certain circumstances when dual rates have proved useful.
  9. Don't forget the American spelling through out the site. And here's another using the same address https://www.nashfishing.com/contact-us/
  10. I've been using https://www.nexusmodels.co.uk/j-perkins-micro-glo-start-1800mah-nimh-4444530.html which twist and lock onto the glow plug, rock solid and easy to remove.
  11. Exactly what I did, it removed the issue in my mind of lawn darting the club trainer, greatly accelerated my training and learning about all other aspects of our pastime.
  12. No it cannot, the Spektrum Interlink DX controller which can be purchased with Real Flight is basically a USB game controller dressed up up in a transmitter case.
  13. Luckily the person I was flying with advised the same re not turning it over. I am mechanically inept however a nice club member experienced in stripping engines down is going to take me through it in their workshop and once sorted it'll be put to use in another plane. Shows the value of club membership. πŸ‘
  14. Hello @toto, my experience in my first 10 months as when I started the club trainer was out of action. I bought an old trainer with an OS 40 engine from a club member, the airframe needed far more work than I realised to make it airworthy and despite attempts from experienced club members the engines random deadsticking could not be cured, all of which greatly impacted my stick time and set my learning back. On the advice of my instructor I purchased a new OS46 and a Seagull Boomerang, both of which performed faultlessly and the Boomerang (despite looking like a 2 year old has decorated it with crayons🀒) proved to be a great plane in winds up to 20 mph and easy to fix in the event of heavy landings and "an arrival" in a tree.πŸ™„ Shortly after being signed off at a new flying site due to a combination of wind direction, sun direction and a hill I lost orientation and stuffed it in on approach, the airframe was written off and the engines air intake was open hence a lot of mud has gone inside. I've managed to get back in the air quickly building another Boomerang (this time in a quarter of the time the first took) with all bits salvaged from the first one and a new in box Irvine 46 a club member had all up for Β£200. I'd love a 4 stroke but IMO in my early days and years an accident is more likely and if I'd put a higher priced airframe with a nice 4 stroke into the ground the financial loss might have hit my motivation to continue. Once I have more experience under my belt I'll have something with a nice 4 stroke up front, until then cheaper 2 strokes for me.
  15. Hello @paul devereux the 3d printed plane is an Eclipson Model A, free plans (free version excludes an undercarriage option) available from https://www.eclipson-airplanes.com/modela. I said I'd purchased foam board from B&Q, but actually it's the A1 size foam board from Hobby Craft I purchased which I think is the same as some of The Range stuff, 5mm thick with paper both sides. I'll post a picture of the 25 size foam board plane when some progress has been made as it's currently a pile of laser cut parts. It's based on https://www.flitetest.com/articles/the-bloody-baron-s-ugly-stik with some modifications and scaled down a bit to fit on 2 sheets of Hobby Craft foam board and it'll be covered with coloured packing tape. The 45 size plane will be based on https://www.spadtothebone.org/PDF/Spad%20Stick.pdf although if some correx locally came up (delivered is too expensive) then I might go down that route.
  16. Although my name is Paul I like the name Colin, I shall be known as Colin from now on. πŸ™ƒ
  17. Good afternoon, newbie here from Swindon who's gained a lot of good advice and information the forum, thank you. πŸ‘ I'm new to RC hence joined my local club Swindon Model Aero Club last June and under the tutelage of one of it members who kindly gave up a lot of their time I've been learning how to fly a Seagull Boomerang. Unfortunately shortly after having been signed off last month as safe to fly on my own I wrote it off, although a replacement has been built and now ready to go. I can't say building either of the Boomerangs was a great experience (ARTF = Always Ready To Frustrate) due to various issues with the airframe and components but I appreciate they're cheap considering the price of balsa and other balsa kits so I suppose you get what you pay for. As a result I'm experimenting with alternative build techniques, I've 3d printed a plane ready to maiden of which I've attached a picture but not I'm sure that technique is for me and it doesn't look like it will crash very well however the 3d printer is proving handy for printing off parts and jigs. I'm currently building a B&Q foam board plane based on a Liddle Stik for an OS25 and planning to build a larger one for a 46 using a mix of techniques from SPADS and foamboard. See you around. πŸ˜ƒ
