  1. For those who are interested - the RC hotel is open now and there is availability - the weather here in Corfu is warm and ideal for flying for the rest of the season. For those who are prepared to travel I can only say that whilst being at an airport and flying when wearing a mask is odd I found it nevertheless easy to do...as ever the hotel is very welcoming and the facilities superb. All of Greece has suffered from the lockdown but plenty of the local tourist bars/restaurants/ haunts have opened with a warm greeting for those who make the journey from the UK.
  2. Pardon me for making this observation but it seems to me to be slightly tail heavy?
  3. Get and fit a larger / heavier engine? Then the added weight has a value in terms of more power (you don’t have to use it)
  4. I use the Miracle metal toggle switches complete with charging point - never had a problem. Probably got 15+ of them. Very convenient
  5. I’ve built and flown one Skippers - I rang a local model shop for advice on the motor / ESC combination to fit . So suggest you do the same? Jon
  6. Window blinds to hide the contents when you are not there (per Mr Chinnery's comments re security above) and to shield the sun when you are working in the shed...?
  7. Andy Yes you’re right and it works a treat jon

  10. Posted by Christopher Morris 2 on 30/05/2020 15:02:54: Hi Tony, older post i see & I'm a newbie to all this. The club I joined was at the wrong time with all this COVID-19 going on & won't be instructing for at least a month or so at the moment.. How did you get on in the end? Would be nice if i could get started with an instructor in the Norfolk area, even if paid for. Hi Chris - I can personally recommend both the Paul Heckles School (used to be ATS) and Colin Chapman at Midlands Flight training near Wellingborough; I used both in the past to train for an A and then a B certificate. They both have excellent flying sites. Paul's school rarely operates these days as he is focused on more commercial ventures and Colin's school is nearer to you albeit a 'drive'. If you can afford the time to call him and discuss I am sure he can arrange a half day or one day session and you could take your own model along as well. Colin is an exceptional teacher and the intensive one to one training is ideal if you want to make rapid progress. I am not against the 'go it alone' Bixler route - far from it, it's more a question of you pay your money and take your choice... Jon
  11. Very very Classy - I like it a lot!
  12. Simon many moons ago I Iearned to fly on a Kite at the old ATS school near Swindon; I bought a second hand one two years ago for training/teaching other members of my club and converted it to a tricycle u/c from a tall dragger. I contacted my old ATS instructor who now lives in the USA and he advised that the C of G was 25-30% of wing chord. Mine is set up at 30% and flies a treat Edited By Jon Laughton on 24/05/2020 11:24:27
  13. The transparent acetate sheets that used to be available as projection slides can work as does packaging such as the stiffeners one finds inside new shirts?
  14. Yes BR. hence my comments about charter flights in the original post. Potentially one could drive and get the ferry from the mainland depending on how borders open up or use scheduled flights to Athens and then from Athens to Corfu - the latter are still running.
  15. I spoke with my friend Spiros Tsellas - the owner of the RC Hotel in Corfu last night just to catch up on the situation there. The hotel is closed for now but the Greek Government has proposed the possibility of seasonal hotels such as his opening at the end of June as part of a phased exit from their lockdown - Greece has apparently suffered relatively fewer corona virus infections and fatalities than a lot of other European countries. Of course the situation remains fluid.... and when charter flights will be resumed between Corfu and the UK is anyone's guess! As many hotel regulars will know, Spiros has invested in quite a few 3D printers and he advised me that he is presently working 'flat out' using them to print PPE for the local hospital which I thought was something that was worth sharing here.
  16. That's a great looking and well organised workshop Pete!
  17. Keith there is a Kindle book available by Malcolm Holt that is very good value and should answer any more tech questions you have for programming the 14SG
  18. Posted by Paul C. on 18/04/2020 10:31:00: Hi malc, how do you stop the film trim from peeling off ? I always end up with bits of film trim peeling after a few flights. Cheers Paul. Paul I use clearcote to seal the edges - works very well. Jon
