  1. Found a new in box OS 35 control line engine, loop ported, no silencer. Seems a shame to bin it, but is there a market for it?
  2. My profile says retired and they still keep contacting me!
  3. You'll just have to post a video/photo you've taken with your brain on here. 😄
  4. Yep, if there's no wind chill and it's sunny then I'm all for going flying. Off tomorrow morning before the 30mph+ winds arrive at the weekend.
  5. Great for buying mower spares at the field, so I don't have to remember when I get home! Apart from the main apps (maps, wallet etc etc) rainfall radar to check that shower is going to pass over, flight radar to check what full size is passing overhead.
  6. Sorry, but those cheap co-axial helicopters are not much good, I "test" flew one a few years back and it was pretty hopeless. You'd be much better with a recognised one like a Blade 120 or Twister Ninja If you are just starting out alone do not get a larger helicopter, they can do a lot of damage to you, these small ones would be a good starting point if trying to go it alone. Even if they are less than 250g so don't need an operator ID, it's worth getting the flyer and operator ID as the online test shows you've understood the legal requirements to fly. If you are planning on taking the hobby further then a club and BMFA are the way to go.
  7. Aren't youngsters annoying! We do a couple of evenings a year with our local air cadets, some say they have never flown a RC model before and after few mins you'd swear that they had been lying to you 😗
  8. I got some lined fishing wellies from the Aldi centre isle, brilliant.
  9. For cold weather flying the lipo powered hand warmers are great, keep one alternating between pockets can warm your fingers between flights.
  10. Don't feel too bad my friends 28% scale 30kg 190 has 2.5 kg moulded into the front of the cowl, and that has a Moki 215cc radial.😁
  11. Yep, or just pop it in the model and run the motor for a couple of mins. Problem with the light bulb method is that if you get distracted then you could over discharge the battery. But I have one dual and one single charger so can put 3 batteries on storage mode at once.
  12. A full discharge takes them to 0%, a storage discharge (or charge) takes them to around 40%, 3.8 v per cell
  13. Check if your charger has a storage setting, if it has it will charge/ discharge your lipos to the storage voltage depending on the starting condition.
  14. I don't have Futaba Tx but have previously updated a mates ( he didn't have a windows PC), if I recall a lot of the updates were to incorporate new telemtry sensors as Futaba released them.
  15. If you have a blue Riot you could always get a red one 😀
  16. There's no such thing as a "best" 2nd plane, it all depends on what you want to do. Have you got a short term goal, scale warbird, precision aerobatics, etc ? different models will take you on different paths. But a Riot will take you through the BMFA B cert, so stick with that until you are comfortable with those manoeuvres.
  17. Perkins are now the UK Futaba importer/distributor so you could ask them. I did have look on their website but couldn't see any links to Futaba downloads, but as they have only recently taken over they may not have got those on their website yet.
  18. A generic one would only work if it could speak Frsky, but you could link one to an Arduino board and program that to interface with the Frsky system. Don't know about the Frsky unit but one of These would.
  19. Was "sold" an old Seagull Christensen Eagle, a bit tatty with an old Kalt (re zenoah) 22cc petrol, it's an absolute delight to fly, probably nothing like a an Ultimate 3D biplane. The only real disadvantage over a monoplane is having to fit and remove 3 wings 😁 but they are fixed undercarriage so more tolerant of less than perfect flying strips.
  20. I don't think there is such a list, but the BMFA contacted their members a couple of months ago and asked them to not only provide the location of their clubs site but also other locations where models are regularly flown, the purpose of which I understand was to be able to put them on the air navigation maps so autonomous drones would be programmed to avoid them.
  21. Hasn't Futaba discontinued the 3003, most reputable sellers now note that these have been superseded by the SU300, so I'd be quite wary of buying any new ones off E Bay etc.
  22. Have a look through the BMFA classifieds too, lots of ready to go glow models listed that may take your fancy.
  23. If you join a club, you may even find a clubmate has a suitable IC model that they are selling.
