Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Posted by Simon Chambers on 16/02/2012 22:34:49: New smilies look rubbish - aren't clear what they are. I thought that at first - then realised that the old smilies are still there! They're lower down in the smilie box! As in - new smilie (yuk!) - old smilie (much better!) Chris Bott - Moderator
Thanks Ken. I can see that in Internet Explorer 8, where I don't seem to need to use it, but I can't see the same in Firefox. What I've done for the time being is set up Internet Explorer how I like it, and that will work for the time being. Cumbersome as it is... Cheers Chris PS - Test Link to Greenacres website seems to work fine in IE8 (Wrote the words first, highlighted them, then clicked the button)

Hi Ken - thanks all understood but no good to me on Firefox. Are we going to get any 'official' advice on where we are with this? It would help as I do not want to keep swapping broswers at my age! Steve W-O
I'm using Firefox, and I managed to post links to replace the t h i s and to post photos without problem My Firefox was updated this morning, so I have just tried again, and it is displaying what I did Edited By Steve W-O on 17/02/2012 11:49:
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
H'mm ...I'm not as keen on the new format.....but I'm sure I'll get used to it!!! Most irritating thing so far found is that when you insert an emoticon the screen reverts to the top of the page so you have to scroll all the way down to the reply box again.....a bit tedious!! Chris Bott - Moderator
Things are getting better for me. Buttons work in Firefox now. I just enabled "spell as you type" and even changed the dictionary from American to British. So I won't be told that "colour" is spelled incorrectly any more Keep up the good work guys. I like it. Terry Walters
Well just managed to do this so getting there - but its less simple isn't it and the pics are so small - why? And so poor quality when enlarged like this . Surely any changes should be to make the system work better and also to do what the users want? Tom Wright 2
Don't like this format at all the old one worked very well. Photos from photo bucket wont enlarge . Inserting emotions takes you to the top of the page. Posting anchored links so far has been impossible can only get a long url. Do we have a tutorial for this new format .I certainly need one as its virtually stopped me posting anything useful. Don't mind the double spacing as it makes long posts easier to read. Tom. it cant even put a emotion in line .

Ian Jones
Well I am pleased to see the spell check as you type (that's the ABC with a tick icon) as the majority of posts I make have to be edited to deal with my typos so that's a for that one. Smiley's or whatever they are called today always have been more than a line deep, though they were centre aligned and it was less noticeable. Double spacing paragraphs, I've always done that anyway. There is no paste from Word option perhaps that isn't an issue any more but if it is then the Word formatting can be easily removed with that blue eraser shaped icon. It doesn't look as nice and doesn't offer underlined text it’s strikethrough instead but all in all I think I just might end up preferring it. (Post was pasted from word)
Simon Chambers
Try selecting the text and pushing Ctrl-U on your keyboard Ctrl-B does the same for bold Ctrl-I does the same for itallic! On chrome and firefox you can install a dictionary to get spell checking in all forms. Very useful if your dyslexic like me and can't spell for toffee!
