Marc Wade
Catalina with true to life working retracts is the clear choice for me - too much of a challenge for Tony?
Terence Lynock
The undercarriage on a Catalina is a work of art, get one dimension wrong and you either end up with a crane fly or a big hole in the hull.We used to have to pump up the Olio's on the PBY-6A at Cosford until they fixed the seal so I got plenty of good looks at the way it retracts and I wouldnt want to engineer a set of u/c legs for the amphib PBY with anything short of a proper workshop and engineering drawings, regards, Terry

Tony Richardson
Nice plane the Hurri but all of you who have not yet voted give something else a thought, a 60"/72" Whirly would be a nice weekend flier.

Patrick Lucas
I like twins so Catalina or Whirlwind would be my choice.Built for 25s.
A.A. Barry
Capt. Manish, Twins are really no more trouble, esecaily in elect. in I.C You have to JUST make sure to follow simple old rules, keep the tank heights the same, "run in' new engines on the "test bench first, DO not have the motors running "flat out " level, a click or 2 on the rich side, or tune them 60deg nose up, and if one does stop, shut the other down as per normal, "dead stick the girl down" AND that is how, you sould not have too many worrys........... For those of you who have not voted yet, Vote .................... Whirlwind................. , Barry (Ps, once you have heard the 2 , 3 or 4 engines in sync. you will love that sound forever, AND you built it.) the unmagnificent man
Hi all, earlier on in this thread we were discussing to see if you voted 3 times for the same aircraft if 1 or all the votes counted. Did we get to the bottom of this? Well just in case the votes do count then I still have 2 votes left to cast and I am pointing them in the way of the Hurricane and the Mosquito.I am building a twin at the moment and unfortunately the Wirly just looks odd to me (sorry Barry) So there are my last two votes Hurricane Mosquito. David Ashby - Moderator
OK, I'm drawing the thread to a close now as mentioned so we can announce the winner in the next issue and the printing date is just a few days away. The voting seems to have tailed off too so I hope you've managed to vote if you intended to. We'll have a count up and announce the winner probably tomorrow.....Many thanks to all who voted and dare I say to Barry to for his amusing and dedicated commentary, but will he be a happy chappie this time tomorrow? Erfolg
I received by BFMA news letter today. I was just idley flicking through it, and horror of horrors, what did I see? You guessed it, I bet, a photograph of a Whirlwind, from the plan of Chris Gold! It appears that there are a number of plans and kits out there. It is an electric (I guess, he is an electric specialist) 72" model. So Barry if per chance the Lysander wins, there is always the Chris Gold plan or even the Galaxy models kit.Erfolg
Chris Salomon
You are right Erfolg, it is a (dare I mention the name) Traplet plan with associated parts available for it too, though I can't imagine why anyone would want to build one
Paul Glidden
I would like to see JU-87 stuka in about a 40 to 60Hawker Sea Fury 40 to 60 ME 109 40 to
Terence Lynock
I can't imagine why anyone would want to build one Because it is more unusual and takes more expertise to construct properly (ducks and runs for the door) than your boring Hurricane, Me 109, Spitfire, Fw 190, Mosquito, Sea Fury, Lysander, Chipmunk (it was a trainewr for gawd's sake!) .If we cant have a Whirlwind then a Beaufighter would be nice so I can build the V1 flying bomb ramp buster with the 6 pndr cannon in the nose, regards, Terry
