Ernie
Not too sure about the model, but I'd certainly get a flexible drive. I can't imagine how I managed without it ernie

roger graves
I have 4 dremel tools, table saw, scroll saw and 2 moto tools, (drills) the one that gets the most use by far is the cordless drill fit a chuck and it's brilliant.
Lima Hotel Foxtrot
Has any one used these as a pillar drill?
Dave Miller
The Dremal pillar drill accessory is useless, I sold mine and brought the flexible drive set which I use quite a lot for grinding and sanding attachments as well as drilling small holes in awkward places. Jon Laughton
I also find the Dremmel right angle head attachment very useful
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
I have a Dremel 3000 & really rate it...especially with the flex drive. The routing attachment is good too.....for cutting slots & ..er...routing....
Frank Skilbeck
My Black &Decker mini drill packed up this week, I noticed on the web that B&Q had 25% off the Dremel 3000 with 15 accessories (£30) so got one, been using it this weekend and it's a nicer tool to use than the Black and Decker, been using it to make sut outs in the wings of my HP 18 so I can install the servos directly in the wings, it's worked very well on the glassed wings. I also bought the drill chuck that goes with it. I'm using a the Permagrit cutting disc, great for cutting through fibreglass. Note in the B&Q store I went to the price shown on the shelf was the full price, but at check out it was the offer price!

Gazza58
The Dremel 3000 is a smashing power tool and with the flexible drive it is particularly versatile. You will notice a huge improvement over your last hobby drill. It is one tool that I leave permanently set up hanging from the workshop rafter over the bench. I probably use it every day. Best wishes Gazza
ben goodfellow 1
3000 seems to be a popular choice, am going to try and get to bq so i can have a look and hold one , but as i live out the way a bit it will be later in the week before i can ,, do the 3000s have a collet or chuck............. Gazza58
The 3000 comes in a case with a collet. However, for around 7 or 8 squid you can buy a chuck that fits the collet. Et voila.... Do get the flexible drive. Gazza Edited By Gazza58 on 16/12/2013 18:02:

Erfolg
Me to! I suspect my Aldi tool is coming to the end of its life. The brushes having about 6mm left, past experience has shown that obtaining suitable brushes can be difficult and pretty expensive for something worth a couple of pounds. I reserved my 3000 on line, went to the store, only to find it was not reserved. I was scolded for not waiting for a confirmatory phone call. Which I am not aware that this is mentioned on the confirmation print out. The stock was then checked (we walked to the tool section). Yes they had them in stock and on display, But the marked up price was £39, reduced from some much higher price. At the till it was confirmed that it was priced at £29.99. This was reduced further by my old codgers card to £26.98. I am still surprised at the lack of concern that their placards do not show the correct current price. I asked will you be changing the posted price. Oh no, not until we are informed by head office. Yet again i am flabbergasted, why not chase up head office, be proactive. I despair ! Well done Frank!!!!!!!!! There is at least some we can rely on. Edited By Erfolg on 18/12/2013 15:01:
Frank Skilbeck
Yes struck me as strange that they have them on special offer, but unless you've been on the web you only find out when you get to the checkout, it must be their secret sale.............. ben goodfellow 1
i must admit i do like my proxxon tools . i am going for a look tomorrow night at the dremmels . but there is a chance of proxxon winning me over . decisions decisions,,,,
Gazza58
Hi Erfolg. £27 squid for a Dremmel 3000 is a great price. Sadly I paid a lot more for mine but it is still a fave tool. Worth every penny mate. It does everything. Drilling, sanding, routing. It makes the dinner, walks the dog, and clears up the workshop after I have finished........S'brill for DIY dentistry as well....Marvellous Gazza
Malcolm Blake 1
I guess I'm a lucky guy. I had an old Dremel which devloped a fault so I returned it to Bosch requesting they investigaate and repair. At no charage they just sent me a brand new Dremel 3000 in a smart blue zip up case with a miscellany of accessories. Her indoors is convinced I went and bought it - oh dear! Essjay
I've got the predecessor to the Dremel 3000, the very similar 300, which I find invaluable. I've also got the now discontinued Dremel Stylus which is a smaller pistol grip rechargeable unit which is fine for the smaller jobs. Its such a pity they discontinued the Stylus. wayne young
I had a dremel 300 for many years has just given up the gost so am now looking to up grade does the 3000 use the same tools as the 300. The dremel is a good piece of kit more powerful than others on the market. Well worth the money
malcolm woodcock 1
I've got the 3000, had a Parkside from Lidl but it didn't cut the mustard. I've got the saw attachment which works brill on plywood.
