Danny Fenton
***********************Warning************************* Just trimmed the cowl and offered it up to the model, be warned the cowl (187.5) is NOT as long as shown on the plan (190mm), I am only just going to get away with it! So be warned if you have made a bulkhead according to the length of the motor, check the cowl is long enough. Cheers Danny

Danny Fenton
I am following Phil Cooke's wonderful Tornado build and I spotted he had used a wing retaining bracket similar to the one we need in the Chipmunk (if you don't use a wooden block as I have) I asked Phil and it seems Tony Hill sells them, though they are not shown on the website. Colin Leighfield
Nigel, do these photos help? They show the detail around B1, 2&3. Also you will see that I have added some reinforcement around the area of the undercarriage mounts. Have a look and ask any questions you like. Martyn K
A detailing question. Taking this shot of Davids as an example, Without any engineering drawings and no access to a full size, how do you judge the dimensions to reproduce at the correct scale? Is there a good rule of thumb? Martyn
Danny Fenton
Hi Martyn, this is a difficult question to answer. If you really wanted to be accurate then you need to measure things to use as reference. You will see in several of the pics that various people have taken pictures including a paper tape measure against objects. This is very useful habit to get into. Print out a strip of black and white squares, each measuring an inch. A bit of blue tack on the back. In this picture you have to look and try and find items that may have a known size on reference drawings. Perhaps the distance between the stringers on the side wall. The length of the flap lever? But with camera perspective it is very difficult to get it right from the picture alone. The old adage "if it looks right then it is right" holds true here, and may be all you can do when you don't have enough information is guess. A typical scaling error is the size of the gunsight in a WWII fighter typically everybody makes them too small..... Cheers Danny

Kevin Fairgrieve
Just checking in. I am still around, just unable to do any building at the moment. 16 hour days for the last 3 weeks. Should get back into it just after the new year. I hope each and every one of you has a good Christmas and new year. Kev
Martyn K
No probs Kev, sadly, work has to come first so that we can afford these expensive 'toys'. Wishing you all a very merry Christmas. Martyn
Nev
Well that's it for me for a few days, hope you all get some time off to enjoy it as well. A guy walks into a bar. He asks the bartender, "Do you have any helicopter flavored potato chips?" The bartender shakes his head and says, "No, we only have plain." Mery Christmas everybody.
