Danny Fenton
Not sure how many of you are aware of the Chipmunk group on Facebook? I have seen a few of your names pop up. For those of you that don't know its the 65th anniversary of the Chippys first flight on 22nd of May 2015. A gathering of Chippys has been arranged for Old Warden. Sounds like a good event to be at if you love your Chipmunks! This is the latest update from the organiser: "So, after just 24 hours or so we have "56 Going and 55 Maybe" Plus I have 15 aircraft already registered and I have even started sending out the personal invites yet. There are 3 other Chipmunks currently resident at Old Warden. Could be a good turn-out. Old Warden are doing an evening air show the following day if anybody wants to go down and stay down overnight perhaps a Chippite Curry or pub meal? Anybody interested and know any local b&b's/hotels? Cheers Danny Edited By Danny Fenton on 03/01/2015 19:49:
Martin Fane
Sounds like a great event and nice and local for me I can recommend this place to stay, very close, a little pricey but very nice. Www.blackhorseireland.com

Glenn Stratton
I'm hoping to be at O.W for the Gathering, if any one else is going it would be great to meet up. As Martin F. has said BlackhorseIreland is nice, and there are a few other places nearby to stay overnight for the first airshow of the season the next day! Tony Bennett
O.W is only 1.5 hours from me. might be nice to meet up for a natter
AlexJ
Hi Guys, Last year I was involved in a get together with a bunch of people. We spent the Saturday at Duxford and the Sunday at Old Warden, I loved it. A reverse version would be good, the 22nd could be at Old Warden, 23rd at Duxford and finish the evening off with a display at Old Warden! It is about 30 to 40 mins away from memory. This could just be the ravings of someone with a sugar rush, there was a lot of icing on that slab of Christmas cake! Alex

Colin Leighfield
I've noted Friday 22 May in my diary, any excuse to visit Old Warden is good enough for me. Hopefully I can do it, although I would not be staying over for Saturday. It's a good excuse to get the motorbike out as well.
Andy Muckley
Would have loved to go chaps but it's the same for me as Chris, setting up the fun fly
Andrew Price 2
Hope no-one has beaten me to this Danny. Re Chippies at Old Warden. The organizer was saying that she would like to hear from people with DHC1 models. How many of the forum builds will be ready for that weekend I wonder? Danny Fenton
Hi Andrew how did the organizer say she would like to see models?CheersDanny
Andrew Price 2
Danny. On the 8th Nov, there is an exchance between Carole and a Ken Bones in which she asks if he knows of "anyone with Chipmunk scale models who would like to bring them along?" He replies to say he knows someone near Bury St Edmunds who has a 1/3 model!! I can hear the cogs churning Danny!!!
Danny Fenton
I must have missed that, I saw Ken was in the group.CheersDanny
Danny Fenton
Just managed to get a copy of this, I missed the first one on EBay but patience paid off and I got a copy over the hols. Great if you are researching a particular Chippy. It also has what appears to be a pretty good three view Cheers Danny
Martyn K
I like that cover colour scheme. Martyn
Danny Fenton
It is nice isn't it Martyn, fancy painting your plane a shade of yellow just to match a book cover
Martyn K
Yes - a very nice scheme indeed.. Note - no landing light fitted.. However its also been green and polished aluminium and Red White Grey
Danny Fenton
Yes I do like the yellow scheme, fairly simple but attractive too
Nigel Day
I might have to rethink my colour scheme, but it will depend on how scale I want to go and how close to the subject. Cymaz mentioned that our Chippie might be relocating to Coventry so no more local 'close-up's.
John Timmis
Hi Just a quick question. I am assembling the fibreglass hinges for the rudder & elevator. I notice that 4 of the parts are very slightly wider than the other 8. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a right & a wrong way to assemble these hinges? Cheers
Martyn K
Yes - I noticed that as well. As Danny drew these up he is probably best placed top comment but I assumed that it was down to a lazy mouse pointer. I have used the thicker ones in the fixed surfaces - fin and tailplane and the thinner ones in the moving surfaces M
