John Privett
And Sally B has just flown over again on the reciprocal heading, a touch to the north of me. Edited By John Privett on 30/08/2015 17:20:
Devcon1
Must leave a camera near the patio windows. Just watched what I think was a C130 Globemaster travelling east to west at 18.04 over Tiverton Devon just now.
Devcon1
I should have said a C17....
Kevin Fairgrieve
Sally B must have been around a bit yesterday as she flew over me last night. Well just north of me actually. Probably back to Duxford, from the East coast though!! Kev
ChrisB
Sally B flew directly over our field yesterday at 3ish, between Atherstone and Hinckley. She was heading South East, so I assume heading back to base. Edited By ChrisB on 07/09/2015 21:41:
Andrew Price 2
I enjoyed seeing Sally B, and others, at the Victory Show, Cosby yesterday. Got the sunburn to prove it!!
John Privett
Sally's been a busy little 'B' recently! I have to say though, as much as I enjoy seeing Sally B fly at airshows, to see her fly over my own house, unexpectedly, at low level was quite special! And this was in weather that had the Vulcan turning back rather than continuing to Dunsfold (where Sally B was almost certainly headed) Though to be fair the bad weather that defeated XH558 was, I believe, a bit further north. Dave Hopkin
A few distant 737 in circuit for Manchester Airport, several seagulls and a very scratty looking pigeon.... I hate y'all
Romeo Whisky
Last Sunday (6th Sept) I was standing in the front garden in SW Scotland when I heard a jet - looked up and THE Vulcan flew right over our house. My wife rushed out with her camera and amazingly managed to get a shot of it. I sat in one as an air cadet in the 1960's. I suppose I'll never see one flying again. Dave Bran
Today was a real mixed bag, the inevitable Spitfire (unusually low on one circuit!!) and lots of GA, but a Rutan VariEze made an appearance Similar to:- **LINK**

I've seen one on 2 or 3 occasions in the past few months.
ChrisB
A VariEze and cessna type came over the field on Sunday evening about 6pm heading NW and a Luscombe Silvaire, Steen Skybolt and Cessna with retracts..177 cardinal I think. Wiltshire Flyer
Just been into town and saw a beautiful B-17 flying over low and very slow! It's the old Sarum air show today, awesome sight! 😃
Martin Whybrow
Yetserday evening I heard the distinctive noise of an old jet engine, looked up to see a pair of small aircraft, possibly Jet Provosts, flying in formation together. Dave Bran
I don't know what I saw today!! It's stumped me so far. Sort of Harvard ish (an impression helped by being partly if not mostly dark blue), def radial type cowl, but with far too much white on Fus and not quite the right shape, esp canopy, and it didn't sound like a large radial, though it seemed to be well off throttle at the time. Mike Etheridge 1
At 4.45 this afternoon a Warbird flew over the house. It was high- winged with large wheel spats so it must have been the Lysander based at Old Warden on a flight from Biggin Hill?
Erfolg
Walking near Dunham Park at 14:00 hrs today, my wife and I heard what sounded like a massed shot gun shoot. The noise came nearer to us, when my wife said that are a lot of guns, what can they be shooting here. Then a twin engined plane came into view, and I was convinced the noise was coming from it, particularly as the nose died as it disappeared into the distance. My wife then said, if it is that plane, I am glad I am not on it. This evening Manchester Int airport that a plane had landed today with engine trouble. I assume that it was the engine repeatably flaming out, more probably only partial combustion initially, then some combustion somewhere outside the normal combustion area. To be honest i am glad I was not on it, as the plane was low, and the noise must have been audible in the cabin. Thew good news it landed safely, Edited By Erfolg on 17/09/2015 18:12:

Andrew Price 2
Erfolg. If you look at the Manchester, Thompson bird strike you will hear the gunshot effect that stared a shortwhile after the strike. Can understand why it didn't make any sense to you. Not the norm methinks. We are off to Bangkok on Monday. I'm ok with it all but the "she" does not appreciate hearing about these things just before we leave on our next little adventure!! John Privett
Posted by Andrew Price 2 on 17/09/2015 23:00:03: Erfolg. If you look at the Manchester, Thompson bird strike you will hear the gunshot effect that stared a shortwhile after the strike. Here's the Thomson bird strike video. The 'shotgun' effect only lasts a few seconds until they stop the affected engine. The plane is perfectly capable of flying - even on takeoff - with just the one. I wonder why, in the more recent incident, the engine is not shut down earlier.
