Keith Simmons
I am keen to watch your thread & normally don't post unless I have something useful to add. Well done on your build. Keith

alan p
Gary with 3518 views on this thread it doesn't show as lack of interest. Well impressed by the build, it's surprising how many tips and advice is gleened by just watching without posting a comment.

Daniel Bird
Gary, Your progress looks very good, I like the colour scheme! Very interested to hear what the all up weight is when you are finished? What retracts did you go for? I was considering the eflite 15-25 set but I think the plane might be on the upper end of the weight limit. The wing mounts don't appear to have enough room for the 25-40 size. My progress has been pathetic the last few weeks for two reasons, firstly I have been busy with other stuff and secondly I dread the fuselage planking and that's the next job! Ian Jones
Wow, that looks the business. Hope you are going to present us with a video when it flys.
Gary Vinten 1
Hi Dan I took my plan to a show last year and put retracts up to the drawing and got the best i could . I was looking for larger wheels and wider as i will be flying of grass and some jets i have seen have smaller narrow wheels and stick to the grass on take off. (that was my reason behind it ) The nose wheel retract is 5kg and the servo is 20kg i think. I had to do a large modification to get the retract in the servo is right up the nose . When you put in larger retracts you have to cut away the ply wing rib nearly down to the sheeting then reinforce around what you have taken out Very solid when completed. Also with the wing servos i used the ones in the above picture so they will sit flush to the servo covers (not made yet ) AUW at the moment is 5.5 KG plus the lipo and some more small bits (i reckoned about 6.3/6.5kg when finished  I have been told the original was about 7 kg but could handle a little more we can only wait and see REGARDS Gary
Gary Vinten 1
sorry the above AUW SHOULD BE IN POUNDS AND NOT KG
paul breckon
Hi Just wondering how your build is progressing. Had any airtime with her yet, nice colour scheme
Gary Vinten 1
Hi Paul progress has been a little slow at the moment I have spent some time on the canopy as it looked crap as it was so managed now to recess it into the balsa frame and then repaint looks much better now
Adrian Norris 1
Did it fly?
Gary Vinten 1
Hi Adrian No maiden as yet purely because I am going to change the edf motor to a higher spec and run it on 8s as I think it will perform better . Reason is that edf technology has changed and its got so much better than it was , there is more choice now and better units on the market . So watch this space for the update in spec

Gary Vinten 1
its been a while looking back at my first post for the jet, so I should get my act together and get it air worthy before it all goes out of date !!
Jack Petrie
Hi Gary, Did you manage to get this model flying in the end, and if so how was it? I have the short kit I bought off a guy last year and want to get started on the build this year but want to know how well it flies before i put all of that time into it! There is a video on youtube with one that is flying by a man named Brian . You can also find information on the net but you have to really look . If i get it up in the air this season i will upload a video
Jack Petrie
Found that video Gary, the jet looks great. Yeah I've had a search around a few times before but your thread is the only thing I ever seem to find on it! Hopefully will start on the build over Easter time.
