cymaz
Whilst not wanting to get into the right and wrongs of history, I thought this was brilliant. Written in the Shakespearian style and bits of his plays woven together. Well dramatised and beautifully put together. Very modern but very old in feel. Martin Harris - Moderator
Fascinating and interesting prose but I watched it with a sense of unease as this was fictional drama featuring real people and some very personal speculation about them. Dave Hopkin
Certainly different, gripping and portrayed the "family" in quite an uncomplimentary manner - Brave TV
Geoff Jackson
Loved the Shakespearian atmosphere. Dianna's ghost was almost Macbeth - very dramatic. Good stuff from the Beeb.
David Holland 2
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did share Martin's unease but thought Charles was portrayed as a principled and thoughtful man. Nicely apolitical prime minister and leader of the opposition. The Shakespearean "flavour" was perfect. It's the sort of thing the Beeb does well and almost justifies the licence fee!! Martin Harris - Moderator
I'd never thought of Kate as Lady Macbeth before!
GONZO
Couldn't stand the style of speech. Turned it off then came back to it a bit later, still didn't like the style. Why do they do that for a present day drama, it does not fit. If they want to make things more 'arty' perhaps we could have the news in prose. Don't like Shakespear either. This may offend the more 'arty' forum members but that's my opinion. Edited By GONZO on 11/05/2017 11:01:
Mike T
The news has been in prose for as long as I can remember...
Geoff S
I've just watched this on the iPlayer and I agree with Cymaz, absolutely brilliant. The Shakespearean language style suited it perfectly and although it was odd at first it soon became acceptable and unnoticed. I thought the dark side of Kate as a Lady Macbeth figure manipulating all around her came off well. I'm no Royalist but the conflict over the assent of the Bill limiting press freedom was realistic and genuinely controversial. Well done BBC and especially Tim Piggot Smith in the title role in what was I assume his last performance. Geoff

cymaz
The only bit that bothered me was the fact that it wasn't filmed in The House of Commoms. That's my only criticism. Obviously unable to get permission...shame.
GONZO
BEB, you been using the Ouija board again? He would be one of the very few who would speak highly of me if in fact he did. Edited By GONZO on 12/05/2017 08:16:
GONZO
Or, was it the voices talking to you again. I much prefer the voices when they speak to me, at least you can have a conversation with them. The bells just get monotonous with their constant ringing.
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Oh no Gonzo, no preternatural powers required, or delusions. Its all in what he wrote - just there to be read. Sorry to hear about "the voices" etc. by the way - the "Bard of Avon" had a good deal to say on that topic as well! BEB
