Aircraft grade Plywood?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I need some 1/8" and 1/4" aircraft grade plywood for my latest build. I cant seem to find anywhere that sells it? I have lots of lite ply but cant find aircraft grade. Does anyone know of somewhere I can order this only, or an alternative term for my "google-ing"

Thanks!

Thanks for the responses.

It is a 1/4 scale L19 bird dog. I am using the Vailly plans but cutting the kit myself so trying to find some of the wood is difficult. its 108" span and target auw of around 10kg.

Says to use "3mm" (1/8th) lite ply, then the same thickness in aircraft grade ply and laminate the 2 ribs together. Also says to use 1/4" aircraft grade ply for the engine firewall and sections on the fuse where the wings join.

Should I just use birch ply in place of aircraft grade? Its far easier to get hold of in smaller quantities.

As has been said. SLEC have a large range of sizes in Liteply and Birch ply.

I would expect birch ply to be fine. Aircraft grade will be specially made to a specification and will cost a small fortune.

AGS (Aircraft General Sapres) nuts and bolts cost a fortune compared to normal high tensile bolts bought from a shop
