Bob Bertram
That's the one I was thinking of FF, but maybe a red one would be better for visibility. Anyway, that is a while in the future.
EarlyBird
More progress. I tried to follow Trevor's advice regarding choice of balsa but all my stock is the same so I had to use what I had. Looking at the elevator now and wondering whether to make it open frame or not as there looks to be very little to gain by doing so. Peter Miller
It is amazing how little you would actually save.
EarlyBird
My thoughts exactly Peter. Glued up now. Cheers Steve

EarlyBird
Thanks Bob. Next on the list is filling in this gap. Marking out on a piece of scrap 1/4" balsa then cutting out, leaving a margin of error. Next is working out the side fillet shape. Cheers Steve
Peter Miller
If you look through some of my builds you wil seethe easy way ofmaking the fin fairings. Scrap 1/4" sheet in place of the tailplane and fin spoot glued in place. Scraps of block each side. shape to match then split them apart and you have two block that will fill the conrer perfectly
EarlyBird
Like I did on the Ballerina. For some reason I did not think it would work, over thinking it I think. Just waiting for glue to dry then add the fairing blocks. It's full steam ahead now or should that be full throttle now? Cheers Steve
EarlyBird
Progress. Temporary T shaped to the fuselage. Balsa blocks made up. And sanded to shape. A lot of work for two small pieces of balsa is my first thought, but then it would look ugly without them, even at 50' Cheers Steve
Fun Flyer
Looking better all the time Earlybird. Here's some video of the full size doing its thing: RF4 Aerobatics
EarlyBird
Wow thanks for that FF. Just one question does yours do all those manoeuvres? Hmm more to the point will mine? Cheers Steve
Peter Miller
I don't know about Fun Flyer's but mine did so his should. But mine did have a 30 FS in it. The film that I liked showed two Fourniers flying in perfect mirror formation.
Fun Flyer
Well mine will loop without any problem but I haven't been more adventurous than that so far. Now where will I get a smoke system for an electric model?
Trevor
Why settle for just smoke? There must be plenty of unsold fireworks going cheap at the moment 😇
EarlyBird
More progress on the tail. The part to fill the gap glued to the fin. and test fit which shows that a bit of trimming is needed. Which is obvious when the tailplane is in place. That looks better. Bob Bertram
Very nice Steve, your work is much better than mine. My turtle deck is not very smooth with indentations between one or two formers and have been contemplating cutting it off and replacing it or maybe call it the filler queen!!! Fun Flyer
The built up tail really looks the part. Well worth the extra work.

EarlyBird
Thanks everyone. This is my sixth build and trust me I have learned so much, my first build had loads of filler which I decided was not good so my aim is to minimise the filler and ideally use none. What next? This is the stage when I start thinking about what to build next I am tempted by the Swizzle Stick for a quick build and winter hack. I like sticks . But back to the front I think. Cowl and battery hatch to sort out. Cheers Steve
Peter Miller
Swizzle Stick is very quick and easy to build. Not sure about fitting a battery and motor. but I m sure that it can be done.
EarlyBird
Swizzle Stick and The Ohmen ordered as Sarik have the 10% off black Friday deal at the moment. OCD? After a lot of deliberation I decided to construct the cowl the same as I did on the Ballerina. Light ply plate cut and test fitted. Now I have to make the battery hatch, before the cowl so that the cowl can be shaped to the hatch. Cheers Steve
EarlyBird
Battery hatch frame work. Sheeting tomorrow. Cheers Steve
