Tony Bennett
Well i have finished soldering the cabanes up. hopefully it will be strong enough. time for a trial fit, i need to mod the upper wing fittings a touch more, but it almost looks like a fury. Ailerons and final sanding next. Tony B
Colin Leighfield
That’s a Fury all right! This is going to be good.
Tony Bennett
sheeted the section of fuselage between the cabanes and then covered it with chrome tape. not great, but looks ok from a distance. i have also been filling the hole in the underside of the nose. the hole was left so i could wire up the motor, but now that is done and working i have filled it. will sand it all down tomorrow and get it ready for covering. we plod on Tony B
Tony Bennett
Remind me to never do a biplane again, especially one that is polished aluminium. sticking chrome tape to depron is not easy as the surface is not firm enough. looks ok from a distance though. Colin Leighfield
It certainly does Tony. It is going to be a stunning model.

Tony Bennett
started the other side this evening. I marked up the panel lines with black marker pen. Then i cut the tape to match the lines, overlapping each section of tape until the panel is completed. the next panel is started just to the edge of the black line, leaving a small gap between the panels. the black in the gap then highlights the panels...i hope. we plod on Tony B

Tony Bennett
foil work done. now while it does not look as good as litho plate, i think it will do me. next job is to make up all the removable panels, louves and stick them on, plus rivets and fixings and....eeeeeeeeeeeeep. will it ever end. Tony Bennett
well i chucked it all together this afternoon and started on the wing struts. bit of a fiddly job, but having a one piece lower wing helped no end. one side bodged up and now ready to be finished off. will do the other side tomorrow, just got to get both sides the same. eeeep. we plod on slowly. aiming for an end of march finish... i hope Tony B

Tony Bennett
"N" struts made, just need to pin the joints and sand to profile. I can now get the aileron servo's fitted and working, well i would but my spectrum rx is not working. i will use an orange one to set everything up while i save for a new spectrum rx. Colin Leighfield
You have done a great job Tony, a really impressive scale model. Completed weight will be very interesting, also if you have to make any adjustments for c of g. I have deliberately avoided Depron on this build, so we can make some finished weight comparisons. There is a lot of Depron in the Chipmunk, so at some point that will be interesting as well. The 100% switch from balsa to Depron on the Super Marauder reduced finished weight by about 1/3rd. Tony Bennett
"N" struts are made from balsa, using the brass supplied. Even though i have used a fair amount of Depron in my build, i expect the weight will be about the same as the all balsa ones. mainly because of all the 3d printed details i have added. Ailerons are now all wired in and working. I plan to start covering the upper wing panels tomorrow, if i get the chance that is. still not sure on how to work the elevators yet, i will have to put my thunking cap on.
