Ian Whittaker
Apologies for the poor quality photos of my leg! The crankcase does have a serial number on, it can be made out in the shot. Equally does this look like the original pipe please?
Nigel R
Yes, it does.

Bruce Collinson
Nigel R, Apologies for the delay, we’ve managed a short break and my radar was off. spoke to El Tel and the tweaks are to do with having to use 4 strokes. The new nose is slightly shorter for c of g reasons and the fus is under an inch longer from wing te to tail. The fus is slightly wider to facilitate radio installation. Terry says the fundamentals of incidences etc are unchanged. hope this helps. BTC
Nigel R
Many thanks Bruce, that's more than enough ? I imagine my implementation will be slightly tweaked deck to suit whatever canopy I have handy, too; lengths and sizes will be as per your suggestion. Ian Whittaker
Apologies for the thread revival, it’s been a while! I’m not using either the airframe or engine I’ve photo’s on the previous page so I’m going to sell both, either together or separately. What would folk suggest, eBay? BMFA classifieds? Bruce Collinson
Nigel, Did you build it, and if so what did you instal at the front? I'm mildly interested in researching a 2 stroke, for more purity in UKCAA events. Have an eye on a HP 61 Gold Cup but know zero about them, other than they seemed to have been good in their day. Andy Stephenson
Bruce, Purity for UKCAA isn't particularly important as far as the power unit is concerned, it's more about the airframe. I have seen modern 2 strokes, 4 strokes and electric power used at these events. It's actually rare to see a vintage engine at all. Those engines were good in their day but that was a long time ago and technology has moved on and it's much easier to get the sort of performance you need to fly the classic manoeuvres from a modern engine. kevin b
So it's a bit like putting a Honda Civic engine in a Morris 1000 and taking part in Classic car shows ? 😁
Andy Stephenson
Kevin, It's not so purist of an association simply because it's not about vintage engines. It's about flying the manoeuvres and having fun at low key events. The cut-off date for airframe design is as late as 1stJan 1996, which still leaves a good amount of engines of the same era which are capable of being competitive if you want to go that way. I have a couple of OS61RF 1980s vintage which are perfectly capable. It's not like a classic car show because there is no concourse element although there are some really nice looking models at meetings. Nigel R
Bruce I've not built Rocket - I decided on a Challenger instead. Only started it in the middle of last year. Power will be an OS61SF with pipe. There's a rather intermittently updated build log here:

J D 8
Was the must have engine for the precision aerobatic comps back in the day. Think engine size was limited to 10cc.

It was indeed, might be helpful to know if there is a pipe with it?
