GrumpyGnome
Morning all Can you recommend a fuel proofer that will withstand glow fuel with around 10% nitro? It's for a fibreglass cowl, painted with rattle can car paint.... TIA GG
Nigel R
Rustins plastikote is working well for me. Have not tried over rattle can yet though.

Andy Stephenson
Rustins plastikote works on acrylic car type aerosol and cellulose paint. Any paint that is oil based won't fair well as plastikote contains solvents which will attack it.
John Wagg
Just had the experience that Rustins doesn't work directly over enamel paint. Softened the paint and started to drag it. Check what kind of paint is in the tin and do a test first.

Engine Doctor
Any top clear coat or fuel proofer with an agressive solvent can drag a base coat or colour coat even if it a compatible paint The clear coat needs to do this to etch onto the base coat. They are generally intended to be sprayed. They will nearly always pickle an oil based finishe. Edited May 8, 2021 by Engine Doctor
Martin McIntosh
Works well over Hammerite smooth and Humbrol enamel for me. Sadolin PV 67 is similar.
