eCalc and Tornado Thumper Range

I had been considering buying eCalc but then stumbled across the full list of supported motors and was somewhat surprised to find that out of the hundreds of supported motors the Tornado Thumper range is not included.

 

This has always seemed to be quite a common and popular motor range in the UK so I’m puzzled why it isn’t included so wondering whether it is in there but under a different name?

Likely only popular in the UK, due to Overlander distributing to model shops. They probably don't trouble the scorer elsewhere and eCalc is based in Switzerland. There are no Thumper motors on Motocalc either. Users and manufacturers are encouraged to provide their motor data for incorporation into these tools, but it looks like nobody has done so.

I think that your comment about manufacturers supplying their info is spot on, after all eCalc includes the 4-Max range of motors so I guess that George is pro-active in that respect.

They are not internationally distributed as Tornado motors so have little visibility. Additionally Overlander do not publish all the motor specs. Find another motor of similar size and KV, they are probably generic chinese makes.

Looking at the 4Max, Overlander, and Electroboost motor packs the motors look identical. Even 4Max equivalents the Overlander motors have almost identical specs. But if in doubt 4Max will give you the best advice.

Completely agree. As long as you know the dimensions, weight and Kv of the motor, that should be enough for you to get decent results out of eCalc and other similar tools.
