I'm sure the flying will come along soon......

As long as Toto concentrates on one model and a spare, hide all the other models for the time being (🤷‍♂️

It can be over powering but I'd rather have that than no help at all. I think everyone means well.

I know a lot more now than I did a few months ago. I just wish my flying had come on so well.

Cheers

Toto

Your flying will improve Toto as time goes on.  Practice makes perfect in everything.   The only thing that's going against you in that department is the weather and we've no control over that .

@toto Your head must he spinning by now, with all the conflicting advice!  You'll soon learn what to discard (I may already fall into this category!), what to try, and what suits you best.

Personally, I've never had an issue with loctite (the blue stuff) if using the correct allen key/tool to undo it.

You'll find what you like regarding amount of movement on rudder and nosewheel.  For starters, use what's recommended in the manual, then adjust if necessary. Inability to control the model due to too much or too little steering is a pain....

@John StainforthI've only ever had one plane with a tricycle undercarriage, and am curious as to why splayed rear legs would cause/exacerbate bouncy landings......

When the rear legs of a plane with trike u/c, splay out, the plane tends to sit on its wheels nose up. Then when one lands and the nose comes down, the nosewheel hits the ground prematurely and tends to bounce up increasing the angle of attack; more of a problem on hard runways than soft. This may be plane-specific, but it was certainly the case on several of my models.

In fairness, having chosen wheels to sit on the undercarriage, keeping the trigonometry of the system constant(ish), is a maintainence issue. Launching it in that state, risks stall on take off if a gust gets you.

OK ...... whilst I finish sorting the Frankinstar issues out .... a long ongoing saga ..... I thought it prudent to revive the Domino to act as a back up. It looks like it may be required ....... so .......

P1110720.thumb.JPG.b2ef944311985d6d9b00c05b0166876f.JPG

its back on the stand. and here is where we left off the last time .......

P1110721.thumb.JPG.02a946543f98173ca21a555814806d75.JPG

everything built as such and the electrics had been temporarily bunged in and given an initial test.

P1110722.thumb.JPG.3307e27fdde5fc27677d0a8aca8abd11.JPG

So .... I will give them another trial test just to see things have not changed and then look at where the various components .... ESC, receiver etc will be permanently mounted. the main battery will be determined slightly later as I will need to have the C of G checked out before determining a final resting place.

I'll be cracking on with this tomorrow and as I do so, hope to implement a lesson learned or two from the setting up of the Frankinstar. No rush with plenty thought going behind it.

cheers for now

The electric powered Dominio should be a fantastic little plane for you to learn on Toto and will come without the complications of starting and running a glow engine for now anyway.  What you really need now while you are learning to fly is to keep things as simple as possible.   Don't throw yourself too much in at the deep end to begin with.

As some may remember from my First taste of the skies thread, The Domino visited East Fortune Areomodelling Club last weekend and was given a very thorough going over. A few tweaks here and there but basically given a clean bill of health.

This weekend ( tomorrow ) I visit again for what will be the Domino's maiden flight. Unfortunately I don't think I will manage a video ...I'm not quite that savvy yet, but will report back on how she ..... and I get on.

Dual rates to set tonight hut apart from that ..... good to go .... fingers crossed and a possible closure on this thread.

Cheers

OK .... yet another update,

it was decided that the 500kv motor in the domino had to go ......

the one above ......... so ..... out it came ......

P1120346.thumb.JPG.6b5fc47d6ebe416972fe44a9b1d741c6.JPG

we are just waiting on a 40 ... 900kv replacement to arrive as per tests on my " first taste of the sky " thread demonstrated. It has been ordered and I was advised by my freinds at Kings Lynne Models that it will arrive tommorrow.

I'll be back tomorrow night to fit the motor and give it a going over with some 4s batteries a 12 x 6 prop and a 60A ESC as tried earlier. The watt meter readings should be favourable and bring me to the end ( finally ) of the domino's set up journey.

cheers for now
