Linds.W
Hi can anyone help? How to use a 3s batt. in the Volantex 1600 glider ,seems to be set up for 2s? I was advised by Wheelspin models that the ESC is not suitable for 11.4 v. I have loads of small 3s would like to use.

mightypeesh
Hi. The spec sheet on their website recommends a 11.1v 1800 Lipo and a 3s lipo charger..... Site here Edited November 28, 2023 by mightypeesh

Site here That's for the Ranger. I suspect Linds. is referring to the Phoenix, which has a 20A ESC and recommends 7.4V batteries. I'd swap out the ESC for a 30 or 40A. Run it with the 10 x 6 but keep an eye on the motor. If it runs hot, swap that too...
mightypeesh
sorry, just seen on the phoenix 1600 glider, if that's the one that it does recommend a 7.4 v pack (though still a 3s charger??? Phoenix glider here
PatMc
Does anyone know what the motor Kv is ? It would be easiest to fit a smaller prop & run it within the 20A limit of the ESC.

It would be easiest to fit a smaller prop & run it within the 20A limit of the ESC. It's a 1400 kv 2212. Would probably need to drop the prop to an 8x6 to keep within motor and esc current limits. ESC looks like it should cope with 2-4 cells, should be a label on the ESC.

Are you quoting from an early version Phoenix ? I have a V742-1 which was supplied with a 2212 1400kv motor same as the Ranger in MP's earlier link. PS I agree with you that an 8x6 should be about right if the motor is around 1400kv 👍 Edited November 28, 2023 by PatMc
Rich Griff
Keep the good info coming please chaps. Noting down real world combos of prop, motors, kv's, ESC and battery info for reference, to get a better idea of what works together with what. Don't have deep pockets so have to buy very carefully. Thanks.
barry tume
Linds.W I purchased a phoenix 1600 with the 2212/1400kv motor and thought it a bit under powered, so I put a bigger motor (4023/1050kv) in it, with a 40amp ESC 10x6 prop running off 3s 2200mah lipo's, and it go's vertical 1600 phoenix.pdf 1600 phoenix 1.doc
Linds.W
Had a 1600 s for Xmas! so I thought I would check the current draw to use 3s batts using a 9x5 (instead of the supplied 10x6) and 19.5 amps so that I think should be ok?The ESC has 2-3s 30a on it so will give it a try!
