Small Syndicate of RC Modellers With A Private Flying Site in North Hertfordshire With Limited Vacancies

Recommended Posts

We are a small group of like minded model flyers that have access to a beautiful private flying site in North Hertfordshire and can offer limited spaces to join our syndicate. Our patch is 100m x 50m of mature grass oriented to the prevailing wind. There is ample parking and flying permitted 7 days a week. The site can accommodate fixed wing, helicopter, glider, drone and control line disciplines both electric and I.C.

We are not a  BMFA or LMA affiliated club but in agreement with our landlord, members must belong to one of those associations and hold a relevant competency qualification for their model.  Unfortunately we are not able to offer training for beginners.

We are also very fortunate here in Nidderdale with very similar facilities and an equally friendly farmer (and sheep !).

Always on the lookout for new members and BMFA affiliated.

Only restriction we have is no cameras on models, due to our location near a sensitive military site.

Our field is a typical North Yorkshire site with a stone wall at the end of the runway to concentrate the mind !

A wall or trees on the flight line is like a lake in front of the tee to a golfer, they all instantly attract the object that is trying to avoid them!

Fortunately we have no such impediments.

One of the sites I fly at has trees on two sides, the clubhouse on the third (no overflying) and a 6 foot bank surmounted with a 3 foot palisade fence model chipper on the fourth. Landings can be like a dambusters raid.

  • David Ashby - Moderator changed the title to Small Syndicate of RC Modellers With A Private Flying Site in North Hertfordshire With Limited Vacancies

Our previous site had a tall hawthorn hedge at the western end.  Landing in the late afternoons, the backdrop of a setting sun played havoc with depth perception.  On more than one occasion, I've left a wing in the top of the hedge while the fuselage made it back to the field.  😁
