  1. A quick Google listed plenty of 3S 3000 Lipo packs, weights shown where 180 - 260gms. A Turnigy 4S 3000 was listed at 277gms which is only 10oz! Admittedly I haven't been out to the shed to weigh anything. Edit - a handy 4S 3700 weighs 370gms so that's 33% more volts and 20% more capacity and it's only 13oz. 2. 10S Ni, what's that, about 25oz going by the RS cells? A 3S 3000 LiPo is somewhere around 7 or 8oz so you could allow some latitude with the balsa weight as long as you keep the tail light-ish and still end up lighter than the original.
  3. Nikasil has been commonly used in Japanese motorcycles from the likes of Kawasaki and Yamaha since the '80s so I doubt very much whether it was an OS invention.
  4. Time off for good behaviour then Weasel? Welcome back
  5. I had two copies drop through the letterbox a few minutes ago. Lucky me, I can read it twice
  6. Hadn't this been closed down last night? What, is it April 1st already David? Edit - ok, just seen the 'other' thread.  Thanks mods, your re-opening of this is very much appreciated though maybe David could have edited his post rather than removing it, I'm confused enough by daily life without this adding to it Edited By Bob Cotsford on 08/01/2021 14:12:57
  7. Is it my eyesight or is there a line 'Telemetry Disabled' with the checkbox ticked? Sounds like a good box to untick as a start!
  8. John, you read my mind! I've just checked and Peter is spot on, click on the name of a bound receiver, eg the name opposite Receiver 1, and select 'Options'. The reciever does need to be powered on to access the current options.
  9. Posted by Dave S. on 06/01/2021 16:37:36: I only recently acquired an FrSky open tx system, and set it up in an electric Wot 4. I was advised to download an update for the (Archer) Rx, which I di but then lost all telemetry. Asking around, I was told that there was a known fault in the update in that the sensor input was changed from S port to F port, even though it still showed as S port on the Tx. I changed it to F port and the back to S port since when it has worked perfectly (though only on the ground, circumstance and weather have kept me away from the flying field recently). That's probably buried deep in an RCGroups thread! Well worth remembering that one!
  10. GG, can you check that the sensor is definitely connected to pins 1,2 and 3 and not 1, 2 and 4? Pin 3 is Sport, 4 is A2 so I'm a bit surprised that you're getting an accurate LiPo voltage through A2 when it's connected to Sport!
  11. What John said, better and cheaper!
  12. I used to have the same one John, but now I've been converted to the one true faith, Praise Be to the Almighty Electron
  13. Deadsticks with bipes or tripes ain't so clever John . Nor with light loaded vintage types if you're downwind But in general you are right, deadsticks shouldn't be a problem generally and I suspect Andy has his tongue stuck firmly in his cheek. Then again, how many glow flyers would love to have a fuel gauge if they could? With leccy power it's pretty commonplace!
  14. As Steve says a current sensor is better for monitoring battery capacity, voltage sensors are better at highlighting bad cells! If you don't have space for a current sensor then the voltage is better than nothing but voltage is affected too much by instantaneous current draw to be a reliable guide to capacity available in my view!
  15. Did you use the same lead for both RX6Rs? The Access receivers I've updated so far seem to be working ok but I don't have an RX6R. You could flash the Access one to ACCST and try it again to see if it's the firmware or hardware that's at fault. Is it the same pin assignment on both receivers? I've just tried connecting an MLVSS to an RX4R running on Access and it picks up the Cels ID when I discover sensors but one thing I noticed was that it has the usual green light indicating a good bind. This rx uses a 6 pin connector for Sport/Sbus etc where other receivers use 4 or 5 pins.
  16. Posted by Joshua Bailey on 05/01/2021 14:00:21: Posted by Nigel R on 05/01/2021 13:36:39: Similar... https://www.slecuk.com/coyote-glider-1320mm-52quot-span Thank you for your suggestion but I am afraid I am looking for something without the propellors on the front, a slope glider I believe? Edited By Joshua Bailey on 05/01/2021 14:00:34 In the description it says that it can be built as a glider OR electric powered
  17. And so it is with OpenTX. Admittedly it's a long time since I fired up a virgin transmitter but iirc by default you get 4 channels driven by the 4 stick movements. The difference comes in how you add extra rates, reverse a servo set end limits (aka ATV), add a switch or slider for extra channels. With eg Spektrum or Futaba you pick a menu eg 'Rates', with OpenTX (and I understand Multiplex) you add an extra line to the stick input. It's just a different way of doing things.
  18. Posted by Brian Cooper on 05/01/2021 13:21:03: The Chinese seem to be quite good at electronics. . . . They are chuffin' brilliant at viruses. but don't forget it took a Brit to improve it!
  19. With the RX6R swap did you delete any sensors on that model memory before discovering them for the new receiver? I ask as I've been updating to V2.1 and when I look at some of the logs for the one model that I've set up so far (Acrowot with Neuron esc and a new S6R Archer rx) I get invalid lines reported. The top line showing the column names is showing odd values for RPM (19.18) on logs before I deleted and rediscovered the appropriate sensors. There also seem to be multiple BecV and BecA entries! I used to get invalid entries when the clock battery went flat but that shouldn't happen if you are showing the correct date and time.
  20. no, read the document and to me it's clear as mud. Edited By Bob Cotsford on 02/01/2021 11:43:58
  21. Probably been retrofitted with a couple of gatling guns since 23:00 yesterday and is now patrolling looking for potential smugglers.
  22. Posted by john stones 1 Moderator on 31/12/2020 15:58:45: .... Smell of the River when you arrive for a days fishing. .... Bathing my Dog. Yorkshire. You just brought back memories of Dad's fishing kreel, the smell of river/canal, stale bread and maggots. Haven't thought of that for many years. AS for the smell of wet dogs - no thanks, that I could do without. As bad as the cat litter in the morning!
  23. You could send them a comment pointing out this oversight, journalists have never been renowned for looking too closely at details have they? They could also have emphasised the fact that all drones > 250gm or having a camera need registering and the pilot needs a flight cert.. It's there, but only as a bit of a footnote.
  24. Here's another from a day in July with warmer ambient temperatures, I've included the instantaneous power on this one. I think the trailing ramp takes the end of the hour as the next datapoint. The flatline at 42C shows where heatsoak had raised the internal temperature to before I pulled the battery plug.
