I mean you can only fly one 'UAS' at a time (as an aeromodeller anyway) so will they have to provide photographs or something to register each and every model? Will it be a crime to own an unregistered model even if it's not in the air? Doesn't bear thinking about really!

    Got an email from Bangood this morning to say my parcel (mini-welder) was being returned to them and asking if a refund is OK. Pity about that - don't know why it didn't make it this far - but it's good customer service just the same.

    Some of the stuff I've ordered from Banggood has taken so long I've forgotten about it! Currently been waiting 6 weeks for a mini welding machine 200x85x120mm- reputedly good for 200 amps but we'll see - cost £26.03 delivered, on special. I just order cheap interesting nic-nacs from Bangood - not bothered if it turns out to be rubbish.

    I bought mine because the original Easy Street was the first aircraft I flew successfully however the "2" is nothing like the original Mine is currently awaiting repairs but I found it to be a competent flier although it virtually disappeared when flying towards me due to small frontal area. The only annoying thing is the air vent on the underside of the rear fuselage which allows grass cuttings and muck to get inside the fuselage when landing.

    It's the fact that the goverment have made our hobby, as was, illegal and then charge us £9 and give us a hoop to jump through in order for us to be legal again that gets me. Suppose the governemnt had said "use of mobile phones while driving will be illegal and everybody who drives must pay £9 and pass an awareness test to comply with the law" can you imagine the uproar there would have been? We are just being done down and stamped on by this government because we are inconsequential nobodies as far as they are concerned. Is it any surprise that people are throwing their toys out of the pram? I'll just have to pay up and play their game spitting feathers 'cos I've got no real choice.

    I wonder what the deal will be if you refuse to land? A truncheon over the back of the head? Tazered? Just joking (I hope) but, to me, that is the worst facet of these regs, the fact that the police will be able criminalise you on the spot for flying a toy aeroplane. Our site is only a mile or so from the cop shop and they have been known to stop by in their patrol car and watch us flying for a few minutes on a nice day so I'm sure we can expect a visit.

    Can't see the point in a throttle cut (or inhibit switch) as it's just something else to get wrong - which way is off and on? - but I suppose if it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling then that is OK. If you just place the throttle stick at half way when connecting the battery then the esc won't activate and the motor won't start until you return the stick to zero and then move it up again - note: that is two movements to activate - difficult to do accidentally!. Works on any transmitter old or new, needs no programming and is highly visible.

    It would be wrong to put volunteer committee members in the way of legal liability and it would be stupid of them to agree to it. Don't forget that the police can turn up at your field and issue a spot fine of £100 to the Operator (ie the committee) if they find a transgression of the regulations.

    Ah yes I can see it now - latest government ammendment to Drone regulations 3.2.3.1.2.3.12.23 para 3.2 sub para b (1) "Model aircraft controlled exclusively using frequencies in the 35Mhz dedicated model flying band will be exempt from all regulations herein"

    I'm a member of two clubs. One is 20 mins away and I use it when the wind is northerly or southerly and the other is 1 hour away which I use when the wind is easterly/westerly and it has better facilities but if I travel the hour then it's for a whole days flying.

    Picked this up in the local bric-a-brac shop for £3 It's a limited edition Coalport plate entitled "Flight of Eagles" depicting two Bf110s over the Needles - makes a change from a brace of Spitfires I suppose but I can't exactly place a selling point or a point of authenticity

    Gonzo, as intimated, you cannot expect volunteer club office bearers to expose themselves to the law for the benefit of the members so, in your example, that will mean no more club trainer aircraft. This, to me, is the whole crux of the problem in relation to a these new regulations - they allow the government to get its hooks into our little volunteer run clubs.
