  1. Redskin is here on Outerzone. I don't recall Blue Two, what type of model is it (aerobatic, sport, glider etc) ?
  2. Good heavens! Does that mean we'll have to resort to building our own models ? 😳
  3. As well as the 100mW rf limit, isn't there also a 'look before transmit' requirement for EU/UK transmitters that doesn't apply to US ones ?
  4. Peter, is that UK ton, US ton or tonne ?
  5. That's the Supermarine Aircraft Spitfire Mk 26b - it's 90% scale fuselage 75% scale wings - details here. I took a photo of one (probably a Mk25) that had just landed at Archer airfield near Brisbane in 2000 as it taxied past. Unfortunately I hadn't spotted it before it landed.
  6. A little more help for Ukraine. 👍
  7. I have both a scroll saw & bandsaw. If I could only choose one it would be the bandsaw. Tip for cutting straight lines with scroll saw - mark the lines first with a Stanley knife (deep as you safely can). Not 100% guaranteed but it gives the blade something to follow.
  8. There's going to be an online talk about the Shuttleworth collection on 6th April for Boundless members. I was informed by email & have registered for the online event. I think numbers may be limited.
  9. Since there's no details of what caused the incident I don't see what lesson is to be supposed to be learned from the video.
  10. Mike Woodhouse has a regular column on FF competitions in BMFA News, he also has a comprehensive stock of near impossible to find FF items here.
  11. Leccy, are you sure the V4-FRII designation is correct ? PS is it not D4R - II ?
  12. I go roughly by - 3000 / number of cells = 1000 kv eg 3000/3s = 1000kv or 3000/4s = 750 kv etc.
  13. Does that matter ? Rewinding an existing motor of the right size but higher KV with more turns of thinner wire would not be that difficult.
  14. Most learn to fly then choose to utilise some of the features offered by modern radio transmitters to enhance the experience - it's known as "common sense".
  15. My March '23 issue hadn't arrived by 21st Feb so rang customer services - 01507529529. Promptly answered - gave the young lady my name & address, she confirmed that I should have received it by then & said she would have it posted out. The mag hit the doormat yesterday (23rd Feb) morning. Unfortunately I didn't catch the lady's name but I'd like to thank her & send her a virtual vase of flowers.
  16. Martin, I'm pretty sure I know the particular glider you refer to. IMO the reason for the tatty condition was down to most members of the owning syndicate relying on mainly one fellow member doing the bulk of of the maintenance work on his own. In fact I had a couple of flights in one of the club trainers with a mind to joining but the apathy amongst some of the syndicates & general run down conditions at the club put me off. On the bright side, the club has since moved a short distance to a new site (I believe with a cash injection from the new owners of their old site). A few years ago I visited the new site along with a mate who had dropped out of the club for health reasons & we had a guided tour. The place is completely transformed with impressive facilities & excellent well organised hanger space for more gliders than I imagined, most of which were modern machines.
  17. Sorry but although it seems a good idea a lot of the definitions are inaccurate or simply wrong. Also the thread title is incorrect as most of the definitions don't apply to abbreviations but to whole words & phrases. IMO the glossary is trying to cover too much.
  18. The Super 60 was designed as a free flight or rudder only with optional limited motor control. The versions now being sold by Belair & Ben Buckle have been modified for modern radio control of rudder, elevator & motor. The version of the Jnr 60 was indeed originally free flight only but a re-designed version with wider fuselage & better wing spar arrangement was produced for rudder & motor control. Like the Super 60 the current kits have been modified for R,E & M but unfortunately they have the poorer wing spar design. Both the current Jnr & Super 60 kits retain a method of wing retention that was fine for free flight but poor for radio control as it leaves the wings liable to be easily over stressed & liable to fold in flight.
  19. The point is that in Greg's post, that I quoted, he states that the motor doesn't power up when the Tx batteries are removed.
  20. Given that the instructions are that the model should be powered up before the Tx is switched on, this does seem to indicate that there is a Tx fault - i.e. it's affecting the model when apparently not awitched on. I can see a way that this could probably be proved but I'd leave it to the retailer/manufacturer sort it out. BTW I've bought a few things from HobbyRC with absolutely no problem.
