  1. Conditions on the west Wales coast just horrendous, Storm winds, lashing rain and sleet, ground saturated beyond. Bit of a respite today and saw the sun before the next round moves in.
  2. There will be a gap between needle body and body of carb, threaded bit visible on most carbs. Piece of tube a tad longer, so both ends are squeezed in in normal run position. Hwyl.
  3. As above, a simple fix that works.
  4. At a local museum [ Sunderland trust] support event last year our club attended, I ran the motor in my old CL Midget Mustang a Cox TD 051. Attracted much attention to our stand.
  5. The Puppeteer likely had a 58cd in it and deliver similar power to the OS 48.
  6. Hi,The setting up running of four strokes differs little from 2 stroke. They have the same carb set up either twin needle or airbleed. Enya is also worth looking out for. Ah,Jon above got here first. Only thing I would add is store engine/model in a dry place
  7. I made mine a tail dragger with over size wheels for rough field operation, todays bush plane style 30 years ago.
  8. I was given a couple of gallons of high nitro high oil fuel [ Heli stuff ] Purchased 2 gallons methanol fuel on line and mixed them to have a lower nitro/oil fuel all my engines 4 and 2 stroke, all have been happy on it.
  9. My Dad once used one to put out a chip pan fire!!! Which it did, but we all had to leg it out of the house quick and stay out for good while for fear of being gassed!
  10. Take it you have checked all control surfaces movements are equal in the directions they move. Just looking at your pic from the front, pretty sure it is straight on/square. I can see a greater gap between the fore wing and the rear wing on the port side than on the starboard side. Given that the two wings are closer fore and aft than most tandem wing types this could result in a greater effect on one side with a condition that is called Biplane interference being unequal and result in the rolls you have. I know its not a biplane but due to the closeness of the wings to each other it is likely possible. The squirrely take off, as design it has a short moment arm [ length of fuselage] and as you removed the tip fins this will result in less directional stability. An increase in the center fin area may well help. However given all that wing x 2 area in front and below it there may well be a lot of aerodynamic blanking of the fin during initial take off run. Working rudders on tip fins would be an answer but possibly more faff than the worth of it. Basic 3 axis gyro may be helpful but not something I am familiar with.
  11. As with @ Jonathan W above less pitch, so try 15x4. Model will accelerate faster but top speed and speed at other settings will reduced.
  12. Close to the mark that. One of the Lancasters on the Dambusters raid did just that, flew to low over the sea and the impact tore off the bomb damaging the belly, much water was scooped into the aircraft. Relieved of the weight the Lanc staggered back into the air and made it back to base. Rear gunner said he nearly drowned as water flowed down the fuselage and into his turret.
  13. Not far off there Paul if we had a time machine. Pic's are of a Airliner fuel cap [ a Boeing I suspect ] my Dad found in a hole in the field many moons ago. Weighs a couple of pounds! Farm is under the air lane to middle Americas. Locking system is faulty, open when should be locked.
  14. No, but under the weight limit.
  15. Not quite but close, a 90 is near enough 15cc.
  16. Yes,thats the one, given the range limit likely flown from the old milk churn stand at end on lane. Popular with many for taking pics of the view.
  17. Doubt it as was found at first light this morning. Was not flashing when found, nearly stood on it. Only started flashing when been on kitchen table for a bit. Perhaps it felt warmer. Just a basic clone I think.
  18. No number, no hatch, no SD to be seen [ I opened it up]. Yes has camera that nods up and down when turned on. Only 170g with batt on kitchen scales. Recon this one something of a parkfly and just went out of range.
  19. Yes FS, thought it is a clone. Thanks for the tip @bucksboy will have a look.
  20. He won't find one, an old tat 70's Land rover is my farm run around.
  21. Yes, been lots of visitors over the weekend and there are some carpark/viewing spots near by. Could be contact lost if flown from behind rock outcrop back of house. Will leave on gatepost and see if anyone claims, DJ clone I think. If not claimed will give to club member drone flyer.
  22. Out at early this morning to check on cows near calving which are in field next to house. On the walk back came across a lost drone in the grass just some twenty yards from the house. Put it on kitchen table and went to do something, came back after a few mins and it was flashing its lights like crazy. I know very little about drones but guess it was hoping for a response from its controller. Pulled the batt as did not want it lifting off in the house [perhaps] Only marking says MINI 3 on body and CINE Z908 max on rotor arms.
  23. For bigger motors it will be back to converting chain saw, strimmer motors. some of them are 4 stroke today.
