  1. Possibly worth including the FAI classes? Plus fun fly... Greaser - a landing on main wheels Four stroke - an internal combustion engine where the fuel is ignited every other revolution of the crankshaft Two stroke - an internal combustion engine where the fuel us ignited every revolution of the crankshaft CAA - Civil Aviation Authority. Organisation for legislating all airspace usage (probably a better definition available!) Article 16 - exemption from certain CAA regulations for model flyers Rich - fuel:air mixture on an internal combustion engine contains too much fuel Lean - fuel:air mixture on an internal combustion engine contains too little fuel
  2. DLG - discus launched glider Nitro is also a slang term for a glow engine Gasser - slang term for a petrol engine Crunchy - slang term for a wooden aeroplane Mouldy - slang term for a moulded aeroplane, made of fibreglass and similar materiels
  3. OpenTX, EdgeTX operating systems installen on anumber of different transmitters, which removes any programming constraints MPM - multi protocol module. Transmitter hardware that allows a transmitter to communicate with receivers using different communication protocols
  4. Cheers, I'll remember that. They're significantly cheaper than the OS F plugs I just treated some of my engines to!
  5. Yeah, I've taken to storing my EDF lipos in the house; or on top of the computer which always emits heat..... my poor little Hawk was only getting about 30secs of power a few weeks ago.
  6. Are they OK for SC, and Thunder Tiger four stroke engines? The Weston web site says....
  7. Gatland's back! Sadly the same players made the same basic mistakes...... 🙁
  8. Surely operating lights is just like operating, for example, a retract - one position is 'off', another is 'on'. No need for any additional electronics.......
  9. Glorious day here today - field was heaving; 4 of us . Mixed day though..... Don't know how, but I have managed to screw up the transmitter setup on my Valiant so the on-board glow never switches on..... Engine playing up in Ruckus - changed the needle o-ring which helped but low needle seems miles out..... Double Trouble flew nicely Ian's Fokker DVIII maiden didn't go to plan at all - large bucket of epoxy required! But he managed a few flights with his children on the Junior 60 'New Kev' zoomed around with his Habu and SLEC Funfly 'Old Kev' threw his little Phoenix Spit around and had a few nice flights on his very impressive H9 Mustang. Good day out overall.
  10. I went to a rugby mad school and played for a few years. Then suddenly everyone was much taller and heavier than me; as I was scrum half, I was a prized target so gave up! We were allowed to tackle above the waist - the only serious tackle issues I remember were the result of tackling low - someone's knees, or boots, when running, can do a lot of damage.... I can guarantee Delilah will continue to be sung very loudly 🙂
  11. Despite using what seems like hundreds of the wooden coffee stirrers on GWS foam model repairs, I still have thousands..... I used to drink a lot of coffee and my team in work used to donate them as well. I'm still mixing epoxy on the little 'tear off a square' note blocks that an ATM manufacturer provided as freebies a decade ago 🙂 I like free stuff. Possibly I'm a Yorkshireman by osmosis......
  12. Good news Greg. Fingers crossed for some decent weather.....
  13. Warren's back - hope we can win at least once........!
  14. Looking good! Covering is A LOT easier with a propeller modelling iron....... you'll still need three hands at some points if course 😁
  15. An incompetent mechanic, rather than an incompetent pilot. Slightly less concerning, but still really really stupid.
  16. J60 flies beautifully. And it's a nice first build, requiring minimal tools. Fits the bill well.
  17. Yup, worked for me too. Embarrassing for the pilot - surprised no electric start..... pretty carp pre-flight checks - no chocks (but if he had chocks, how'd he remove them from the cockpit?) Very very poor airmanship - revoke his license and send him back to school
  18. Yeah, a small razor saw would make cutting stringers easier. BB J60 is an excellent kit and flies beautifully.
  19. Sorry, no. The only safe solution is to throw it in the bin and accept the wasted cost of around £40.... irrespective of PCD or radial. Or anything else.
  20. I know the initial post said don't tell you to not repair it but personally, I would never, ever repair a propeller, unless it's very slow turning - e.g F1D. A 'shed' blade made of carbon could travel very quickly, a surprising distance, and with a not inconsiderable energy. No idea what the ensuing vibration would do to your engine - maybe it'd stop straight away......
  21. If you get that, you'll need minimum stuff... and some will depend on how you kit it out and what additional items you'll buy. Probably: A board to build it on A knife to cut balsa Sanding block & sandpaper Tiny screwdrivers for servo screws Small Allen keys for wheel collets (or you could solder some wire/washers) Pins Glues Something to drill little holes for servos - a pin vice and bits will do fine and save the expense of a Dremel Some household tools: Pliers Stanley knife
